Today's the day!

Saturday, 5th of October

"Can we close early today!" Liz asked, practically bouncing from excitement.

Today was the day! The midnight gala wasn't actually at midnight, but it would end at midnight, if you chose to stay that long.

(Or if nothing happened to disturb it)

"Yeah. We will need the time to get ready." I nodded.

Jason hadn't been in the store today, most likely doing whatever prep needed to be done in his dad's home.

Apparently it's got an amazing ballroom, which sounds glorious.

"Yes!" Liz pumps her fist in celebration. "How soon?"

"Maybe an hour. The gala doesn't start until 7, but Jason and Tim should be here around 6." I informed.

"So we'd have.. 3 hours to get ready?" She clarifies.

I nod. "Yup."

I took a look at the quiet, fall decorated store, it had taken us a couple hours on the first of October to decorate, but it was so worth it. It looks great!

Also in that time, May had called, and we told her how her store was doing and where we were going later.

(I did call and tell her about Bella after all that happened, so don't worry about that.)

May told us that since Jessica had her baby a little early, she would stay an extra week to help, meaning she'd be gone until mid October.

Jason had stopped by multiple times, and even Tim did too now. But since Liz wasn't around on the weekdays, he only hung around briefly and stole more cookies.

Yeah he never paid. Oh well.

Other than that, it was a quiet, uneventful week.

"Byyyyye have a great day!!" Liz called to the leaving customer.

I pick a few books out of a shelf for an online order and put them in a box.

"Welllllll...." Liz said.

"Well....?" I responded, folding the box and walking to the counter.

"Nobody else is here now.. can we close?"

I look at the clock on the wall, then shrug.

"Eh, close enough. Sure. You flip the sign and I'll put this box in the office to send out tomorrow."

Liz pumped her fist and rushed around the counter to the door to flip the sign.

I chuckled and shook my head before going into the back to put away the order.

I came out again a couple minutes later to find Liz rushing closing duties, and I stepped in to sweep the floor while she closed down the register and counted it.

"I'm soooo excited! Aren't you? We get to go to a fancy party and eat fancy foods!" Liz raved. "OH, and my dress is so pretty!!" She spun around, obviously imagining wearing it.
