"Fire destroys, never creates," explained Shell, she and Kai huddled close together in one of the dens, "Everyone feared the fire controllers because of that, terrified of them."

"But what happened to them?"

"They were, let's just say.. 'taken care of.'"

"This doesn't make any sense Shell."

"Ugh. Fine. Let me dumb it down for you. Fire has never been used for good, only evil, for destruction. Everyone, humans and dragons alike, wanted them gone, dead, exterminated. And Fyre, she was a fire wielder too. She wasn't always this way, she wasn't always so rude and mean. She was just a young dragon when the war on fire started, only a wyrmling. It went on for years, and with one hundred years time, the number of fire controllers went from over a billion, to less than a thousand."

"But how could all those dragons fit in this world, and not be hunted by humans? There's not enough room on Earth for billions of humans and billions of dragons."

"You're quite impatient huh? You haven't let me finish," Kai rolled his eyes and groaned, resting his head on his forearms as Shell continued, "There used to be another world, one only for us. And a portal was created by Hades for us, since we're all basically Hades' children, or so humans say. But as the number of fire wielders diminished, Fyre only grew up with more and more rage, which became unimaginable when she came across her parents being taken away, and you know what happens next. She was hurt and furious, and came to a last resort and went to Hades. She vowed to forever serve him, and he agreed and closed the portal,"

"That means that there's still other dra-"

"No Kai. He started destroying the world and the portal, and the few that escaped, were stranded here on Earth."

"Oh.. So that means.."

"We are the last of our kind, and the Hunters aren't making this any better.."

Kai nodded a bit and said, "What about your parents..? Do you have any siblings..?"

"My parents have been stationed some where else, and I'm an only offspring."

"So, it's up to you guys- us, to preserve the dragon species..?"

"Yes."

"Do you have a mate?"

Shell shook her head, "Nope."

He nodded a bit and it went quiet. A few minutes passed, and Shell asked, "Do you have a mate..?"

Kai shook his head, "Not yet.."

Shell nodded and then asked quietly, "Kai..?"

"Yes?"

"I uh.. Can I tell you something..?"

"Sure," he nodded and closed his eyes.

"I.. Um.. I kinda.. I kinda like you.."

"I like you too."

"No, no I mean like, as a mate.."

Kai slightly froze and his heart pounded and he said, "Sh-Shell.. That's so sweet but I.. I wish I felt the same way but-"

"No, no I get it.. Is.. Is it me..?"

"No! No no no of course not!" he looked at her, "I kinda alright like someone else.. They're much younger than I am, so it's completely wrong and not okay.."

"How much younger..?"

"Like.. Almost 8 years younger..?"

Shell laughed, "Kai that's like, a day in human time! Us dragons live forever~ So that's okay! Besides, they'll going to grow up before you know it."

"Yeah.. I guess but it still feels wrong I guess.."

"Oh.. Are they another fire wielder..?"

"Yes, I mean sorta, but also no.. I mean.." he groaned and let his head fall in confusion.

"Explain please. I'm your friend.."

Kai sighed and said softly, "He can control them all.."
