Ch.39

After trying but failing to get him to open up to her, Sage sat silently on the sofa by herself as she tried to rake her mind to come up with a way of helping him. After her arrival and after trying to get him to eat something, but failing to do so, Sage had tried her best to be there for him and to be the ear he needed so that she could listen to everything that he needed to say. As patient as she was Sawyer hadn't said much after she declared that she wasn't leaving his side. Instead, he only walked into his room and closed the door, leaving her to her own devises.

But that was hours ago, and he hadn't come out.

He hadn't responded when she tried to bring him food, nor did he really acknowledge her when she called out to him.

Getting the message loud and clear, that although he wasn't going to throw her out, but that he was going to keep his distance from her, she gave in and left him to deal with his thoughts and feelings alone.

It had been a few hours since she last saw him, and the only thing that she could manage to do was to check her phone every now and again, making sure that she checked in with Bruno and Holland, who hadn't stopped messaging her, knowing full well that she was with him.

Sitting in silence, wrapped in her own mind, she had found herself dozing off in the middle of the night, due to the exhaustion that had finally caught up to her.

When she opened her eyes again she found that she had been wrapped in a blanket laying on a soft bed that smelled nothing but of Sawyer. Still engulf in darkness she found herself darting her hand out and feeling the mattresses surface in search of his body and warmth. To her surprise she felt nothing, no warmth to indicate that he had been laying next to her, no sparks that shot through her body eluting her that he was there. She felt absolutely nothing.

Laying up and bed and searching the dark room for him, she realized that she had been in his room, laying in his bed but he had not been there.

For a second there her heart sank in her chest. Had he left her alone? Had he left her in his place by herself to deal with his feelings alone?

Getting up from her spot in the bed, she found herself walking to the closed room door to search for him, with a deep need to see him if only for a second, hoping that he was still around.

Stepping out of the room, and walking into the open living room, to say that she found a small burst of joy and happiness surge through her as she spotting his huge body slumped on the sofa fast a sleep brought a unknown comfort to her.

At the sight of him, she couldn't ignore the thoughts that ran through her mind or the need to be next to him, which was why she made her way back into his room and retrieved the blanket from his bed, and slowly made her way over to his sleeping body.

Kneeling down before him and taking him in, she could tell thanks to the moonlight that had been shining through the window, of how exhausted he was. He was in a deep sleep, softly snoring as his body was spawl out on the sofa. From what she had seen from him early that night he was still under the affect of the drug that had turned him and the others mad with rage, and it had taken a tow. She saw it in his movements early when she'd arrived and she took notice of how out of it he was even after his show. She felt for him, she really did, and she knew that he was doing his best to be strong and not let it show.
