After school I met up with Nate, together we walked to his car. The car ride was silent, until Nate broke the silence between us, by asking, "You want to get to know each other better, if we have to work together we better get to know a little bit about each other". It seemed like a good idea, so I agreed. "I'll ask you a question, and then you get to ask me one?" he proposed, "I'll start. What is your favourite colour?"

"Lime-green, yours?" I answered

"Turquoise" Nate said, "my turn, last time you had a boyfriend?" he was so different today from the other days when we were with the rest of the boys, what had happened to him?

"Never, you? And I don't mean not boyfriend but girlfriend"

"I'm not really into that kind of thing; I'm more into one night..." I cut him off before he finished the sentence "I don't think I want to hear more," I said

"So how come a gorgeous girl like you never had a boyfriend" Nate asked. I didn't want to tell him, like really didn't want to.

"Just waiting for the right one," I answered instead of telling him. It was somewhat true... just not the whole truth "Any siblings?"

"Nope, I'm an only child. Tell me about your family, siblings, parents, animals and such". Was it just me or did he seem truly interested?

"That's not a question," I protested but it was just as much in fun

"Just tell me, this is to get to know each other better, remember?"

"I've got a three year older brother called Jaymi; he literally means the world to me. Just yesterday I got a dog, she's called Daisy, and she's really cute" I didn't want to talk about my parents, so I just didn't say a word about them.

Unfortunately, he just had to ask "What about you parents?" He couldn't just have left the subject alone? I told him I didn't want to talk about it, and fortunately for me, he didn't dig any deeper. Instead of doing that, he announced that they had arrived.

Looking at the building he lived in, it was obvious he had money, but I already knew that, everyone did. I mean, he owned a black Mercedes, with whatever you could get to it to make it more luxurious. We took the elevator upstairs, he lived on the top floor, I noted.

I knew he was wealthy, but when he opened the door, you could see exactly how wealthy he was, and all I could do was stare in awe. His flat was big and glamorous, not a single thing was misplaced, the furniture seemed... don't even get me started. Not only was is big, but as far as I could see, it was a pent-house.

"Are you coming?" he asked me. I hadn't moved an inch since coming in, this place was too... I don't know, but it was definitely nothing like anywhere I had ever been before.

I got over my amazement, just as he started pulling me with him inside. We went through the kitchen, which contained anything and everything you could need for cooking, then through the living room, which, like the rest of the flat, held the newest and most expensive stuff.

"Take a seat" Nate said and gestured to the couch, which was standing on the terrace "I'll just go grab a pen and some paper and my guitar, so we can get started". I took a seat on the couch, as he rushed back inside. I couldn't help but feel a little lost, I had as I already said, never been to a flat this big and expensive.

I sat there, not thinking about much, and I felt free... something I hadn't done for a very long time. I couldn't even remember when the last time I had sat still without worrying was, relaxing... without worrying, it felt weird.

Nate came back with the guitar, pen, and paper, just like he had said, and we were ready to start. "So, any ideas?" he asked

"Nope" I popped the P, "writing is something I usually do whenever I have an idea, not something I do on demand. I use it as an escape, if you get me?"

"Escape from what?"

"The world" I knew the sadness was obvious in my eyes, but that was the only place it was shown, for I was good at acting about that.

"But why would you want to escape from the world?" when I didn't reply, he went on "you can tell me, you know?" but that was the thing, I couldn't. There was a reason I didn't trust easily, because once I put my trust in someone, I would always end up being hurt. A tear escaped my eye, it rolled down my cheek. I looked down. I couldn't allow myself to cry, not here, not in front of Nate.

"Can we just get on, the sooner we're over with this, the sooner I can get home" I shook my emotional side away, now was not the time.

"Sure" Nate was confused, that much was obvious to me.

Suddenly in the flash of a moment, an idea came to my mind. It was just a sentence, but you can form a full song out of a single sentence if that's what you want.

"Stars shine bright" I grabbed the guitar Nate had bought out.

"In the dark of the night" Nate continued

"We're going out of the dark" I went on

"And we'll set fire to this world" Nate came up with. Together we started forming the song, and putting music to it. We progressed slowly but as it was taking form, I could see it for me.

We had nearly finished and we only needed to finish off the ending, when the doorbell rang, getting both of us out of the writing zone, we had gotten into. Nate got off the couch he had been sitting in, as we had moved into the living room, because it was starting to get cold outside.

When Nate got back to the living room a woman, looking in the forty-fifties came in with him. When I thought about it, she looked quite similar to Nate... perhaps it was some family

"And who is this fine young lady Nathaniel?" his full name was Nathaniel, interesting info... "Your girlfriend perhaps? She's just your type," the woman sounded extremely happy and hopeful to, and I was nearly sure she was his mom.

"Sorry to disappoint you ma'am, but I'm not his girlfriend. You know what I probably should get going anyway," I said wanting to escape from the slightly (or very) awkward situation. I started gathering my stuff; we had somehow gotten it spread pretty much everywhere while writing. We had made quite a mess. "I'll just call my brother to come get me"

"But we haven't finished yet" Nate argued

"We can finish some other time," I argued back

"Sorry to interrupt you two, but you still haven't introduced me to the fine lady" his mother's tone was kind, but demanding

"Sorry. Mother, this is Ree, we're working on a song together for the charity concert, you know the one I told you about in the phone. Ree this is my mother, Sophia Taylor" Nate introduced them, and I had been right, it was his mother.

"It was nice to meet you Mrs. Taylor, but I better get going," I politely said before bidding them goodbye and walking to the door. I got the feeling Sophia Taylor was a strict person.

"Call me Sophia," Mrs. Taylor said "Nathaniel, where are your manners? Drive her home". On his mother's order, he did as his mother told him to and went out to the car with me, which I found funny, who would have thought his mother would have so much power over him? We climbed inside the car, and Nate started driving.

"I'm sorry for her interrupting us. I swear I didn't know she was coming" Nate apologized

"Its fine, it's getting late anyway, and we were nearly finished anyway. I can finish it later" I didn't want him to feel guilty; it wasn't his fault, besides Jay should be home now.

"No, let me finish it, it's my fault we couldn't finish it now" Nate insisted, I couldn't help but smile at his kindness, he was shoving to be very different from what I had imagined, and how he had been acting the other day.

When I went to bed that night, I couldn't sleep, my mind filling with thoughts about Nate. What was he doing to me? This wasn't me, at all. At some point, I did manage to get some sleep. However, once again, it was, disturbed by nightmares.
