One too many

Part 25 ~ Feeling that something is not all right

For a while Stark stood frozen watching Erik flustered and tending to his friend. He did not pay her any attention, he did not even look at her. She had almost fallen when he let go of her to help his friend. Next thing she saw was Erik taking his friend into his arms and carrying him away, he did not even say one word to her. Her heart felt heavy and her mind was chaotic. She had the urge to leave this place, fast, she almost started running to get away before she calmed herself down.

She could not understand why she reacted so badly towards Erik's friend but her instincts were telling her that something was not right, yes he appeared to be hurt but he could still walk and talk but what bothered her the most was how intensely his friend had looked at her, she did not like it at all, in fact she never wanted to see that man again, the feeling of hatred was so strong but she just could not understand it, she did not know him then it occurred to her that maybe she did in fact know him, maybe they were enemies, his gaze was rather threatening, she felt scared and wondered if she was going to crazy or was her body telling her she needed to watch out.

She walked slowly towards her room, she was alone, Erik had sent her maids away since he had wanted to walk with her, she was still not steady enough to be walking without aid nor anyone to help, still she kept on, she kept close to the walls so she could use it to steady herself. She was getting very tired, she had not walked so much since her recuperation. He had sent her wheelchair with the maid. He had wanted to help her walk and when she was done he wanted to put her into his arms and carry her back to her room. Maybe he was not as reliable as she thought, she felt jealous, he forgot all about her after that man walked in, maybe she should just try to move on as fast as she could, the feeling that she had to go was so strong, something bad must have happened but what?

Erik ran to the healer with Stone in his arms, his wolf was antsy and scared about his mate. Stone tried to reassure him he was not that badly hurt but Erik was no fool. He had clearly been in a fight, he was just annoyed at himself for not going with his mate to protect him, maybe then he would not have gotten so hurt.

He broke the door down at the healers place and told him his mate needed tending to right away. The healer had almost lost his wits he was so frightened when the door was kicked down but he recovered fast and told Erik to put Stone on the examination bed.
Stone was bruised and his shoulder was broken, he had been badly bitten in a few places, the wolves had washed their mouth with wolvesbane to try to kill Stone more easily. Thankfully it did not work but it made his healing a bit more troublesome. The doctor mended his shoulder and stitched his bite marks. He used salve of an eagle to fight the wolvesbane it would help with the healing while Stone slept. Stone never complained and used this time to reassure his mate that he was fine, he knew his mate needed comforting so that is what he gave him before fell asleep.

Erik sat by his mate all through the evening and through the night. His mind did not even think one time about poor Stark, she was still trying to get to her room and she was getting so tired that she just laid down on the floor and passed out.

When Stark woke up she was very cold, she had a fever and urgently needed help but there was no one there to help her. She tried to scream for help but her throat was so sore, she barely got any sound off. She tried to stand up but she just could not do it. Her head was spinning and she saw double of everything. She was so thirsty and she had to go to the bathroom but no one came to look for her.
Unfortunately her maids had thought that Stark had stayed with Erik that night so they all waited quietly in Starks wing in the palace. She was still so far away from her wing, in fact she had gotten lost in the night, every room and corridor looked exactly the same much to her despair. She had been lying on the floor for such a long time, so long that she peed herself, she could only cry in her anger and embarrassment. The pee that felt hot for a second soon went cold and made her feel even worse. She was so cold that her body started to shake. She could not utter one word out of her mouth, she fell asleep again, utterly broken and miserable.

It was past dinner time and their Luna had yet to return, her maids did not know what to do. She should have been in her room by now, they had yet to know what had happened since they had not left the wing since Erik had dismissed them, they had a bad feeling and were restless. One of them decided to go to their Alphas work room to see if Stark was there. She walked hurriedly, fearing that something was wrong.

Erik still sat by his mate. Stone had not woken up yet so Erik fussed over him and tended to him to make himself and his wolf feel better. He had yet to think of Stark, his mind was preoccupied only with Stone, it was not until he saw one of Starks maid enter the healer that he thought of her. What was she doing there so late? She should be tending to her Luna. He was about to scold her when the maid asked him if Stark was with him, that made Erik stand up with fright, where was Stark? The memories of the last time he saw her came to his mind, he had promised to walk her by himself to her room so he had dismissed everyone, who had helped her, had she been kidnapped by the attackers, he was all over the place  and torn between two mates, he did not want to leave his Stone but he had to find Stark, before the poor maid said anything he ran out the door, he morphed into his wolf and told him to find their mate, he was restless, something was not right and he needed see her again.

Sorry for the long delay, my Magic Keyboard stopped working and I can't write on my phone so i waited until i could get a new one, I got one finally and can start to update my stories regularly again. Have a great weekend.
