Dear Readers,
There is something I would like to announce for this fan fiction novel.
You see, I decided to discontinue this story than finish it until the end.
I am very aware that I haven't updated for a year(?) now and it was because I focused on my undergraduate thesis and college first. But I also have to admit that I have been neglecting this story intentionally.
I started this back in 2023? or even earlier (couldn't really rely on my wattpad revision history because they also count the days where I change the book's aesthetic) and I gotta admit at some point, the storytelling that I wanted to pull off didn't pass to my expectations and I become dissatisfied.
To fully understand the factors why I am going to discontinue this one, I made a list:
① The progress were rushed. I am not talking about how "fast" I am to update, because the updates are slow as hell (let's be for real). It's the overall story pacing; they are all over the place and keeps changing small details that even I have to give a hard side eye on this work when I'm reading it again these days.
② I realized that I should have keep things slow. This is also related to storytelling issues, but I never realized that I was spoonfeeding some information rather than speak for themselves. I apologize for that because I have a feeling that it ruined the story at some point.
③ The amount of flaws and background I have for Yvette. Because what? Why do they have that background? For a dramatic effect? I hate it lmao.
④ I want to solidify the character's relationship with other canon characters, as well as with you, the readers. In all honesty, personally I suck at portraying relationship. So I am planning to improve them by taking time as the story progresses forward.
⑤ This one is a major one—-I suddenly realized how to approach the conflict and their role in the story. The plot looks good but I have to pull off the execution of course. And right now, at this state of the book, I couldn't fix it and I don't want to sloppily tie all the conflicts in such a poor condition.
If you're reading this announcement and you expected it was a new chapter, I'm sorry to disappoint you with such news but I would also thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I know you guys have been supporting and reading this far because you want to see the end of the story. But I don't really want to continue this and eventually killed by how poorly executed the story was.
Because of course, just like you, I genuinely want to see the story in their best shape. So, I will discontinue this one and start a new one with the same premise.
If, after everything I have stated here, made you decide to stop/drop/remove this story out of your library and reading lists, I understand and know that I harbor no hard feelings (because why would I?). Thank you for supporting this book up until this point and I wish you to read and craft the stories you would like to make! ♡
But if you decide to read the upcoming remake version, you are still undeniably welcome! To be honest, I am mostly writing this for myself (and for my best friend lmao) but the amount of readers who I keep commenting and seeing them add this to their lists made me to keep going.
The remake version will have some differences. Here is the list:
① Yvette won't be a police officer but a writer.
② Everett won't be their younger brother anymore as the Sinclair siblings will be twins in the new story. Of course, their deaths will be also different.
③ They have parents but won't be much of a focus nor they will be mentioned.
④ Important details will be implied than spoon-fed and much more twists to come.
⑤ The title won't be Gone Astray anymore to avoid confusion from this one.
As much as I want to explain each of them, that would ruin the fun.
The remake version will be release on August 18, 2025 (UTC/GMT +8)
And just to clarify—this book won't be put down. It will still be visible but I will no longer update this.
Additionally, I strictly thought of this book plot, original characters, and events. Anything that may seem similar to any other is purely coincidence.
Lastly, I don't use nor I will never approve of AI allegations for this. I will die on this hill if I ever know anyone of you feed this to them or plagiarized this story and claim this as their own. I may be dissatisfied with this book but I still acknowledge them as my blood and skill. /srs
