A sleepless night troubled Ellie, but after hours of tossing and turning, Saturday had finally arrived. She had slept for at least two hours, before waking up at half ten like a zombie. No doubt about it, she was shattered. She yawned and stretched her arms out, as she lent up in bed. She rubbed her eyes carefully, trying not to get any little chips of mascara into her sclera. But all of a sudden, out of tiredness, she fell back into her pillow with a thud; letting out an ‘ouch’ as she came to realise she had banged her head on the wooden frame behind her. “Well done Ellie,” she said to herself.
There was a knock at the door, and before Ellie could reply Caroline walked into her room wearing an old top and some grey trousers, and her hair was fitted nicely back into a messy bun.
“Good morning Ellie,” She smiled,
“Morning,” Ellie replied in a mumble.
“What would you like for breakfast, honey?” Caroline questioned,
“Do we have bacon?” Ellie answered.
“Yes,”
“Can I have bacon on toast please?” Ellie asked,
“Yes, of course. It will be ready in about ten minutes so make sure you’re down by then,” Caroline replied, stepping out of the room.
Ellie turned over to lean on her belly, she closed her eyes but her mouth remained open wide; causing her to drool on her pillow. After breakfast, Ellie ran upstairs to get dressed. Her phone bleeped, so she checked it. And she sighed when she saw who it was from.
Max: Hey, Elle. You going James’ party tonight? X
Ellie picked up her phone and typed a messaged back carefully but quickly.
Ellie: Yeah. Are you? X
Max: Yep, I guess I’ll see you there x
Ellie: :) x
Max didn’t reply, so Ellie carried on beginning to get ready for the day ahead. As always, she just threw on a band t-shirt, today it was The Smiths, and to add to the tee, instead of shorts she wore black leggings. She left her down and just brushed it aside. Today she was planning on sleeping at Chloe’s, so Ellie packed up her stuff; including the skimpy black dress that her Mum owned from her teenage years.
“I’m going now Mum,” Ellie said walking towards the door, picking up her key.
“Bye Elle,” Caroline chirped, “take care of yourself.”
“Will do, see you tomorrow!” Ellie replied, walking outside into the humid air; that is quite rare for Britain.
Ellie plugged earphones into her iPhone, before placing the little circle speakers into both of her ears. She pressed play and Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap started, one of her favourite songs. She walked to Chloe’s singing to every old tune that played. She didn’t really enjoy the present songs, which are mostly dance music these days, so she isn’t very good with parties and even though is excited for the night ahead, she dreads the music. The only electronic music she actually enjoys is Will’s favourite DJ, Avicii.
When she finally arrives at Chloe’s, one knock on the door is enough before Chloe opens it.
“God Chloe, you must have been waiting for me right at the porch. Huh?” Ellie laughed,
“Oh Ellie, you know me too well.” Chloe chuckled, motioning her arm to tell Ellie to come in.
Ellie stepped inside and waited for Chloe by the stairs.
