"What now?!" I yelled in frustration. Seriously, as soon as we were united with the rest of the Seven, the alarm blares. How typical.

"Guys, be ready," warned Ally as we unconsciously drifted into a loose circle facing outwards to defend ourselves. "If anyone comes..."

"Kill them," finished Taylor, ejecting her Wolverine claws.

"What? No, don't kill them! Just knock them unconscious."

"That's much better," I stated distractedly, trying to figure out how I could use my powers.

Jess laughed. "Yep! And, uh, you superpower people will protect us, right?"

"You bet," said Emily.

Jess, Erica and Rose ran into the middle if the circle. "I don't want to get in your way," was Erica's reason.

It felt weird, being part of the circle instead of cowering inside. Being strong enough to attack people. Don't get me wrong, there is no way I wanted to. I wanted to dig a hole in the ground and hide in it and cry until this is all over. But nope. Can't do that. People are counting on me.

Darn people.

Suddenly Taylor perked up. "I hear something... Sounds like bombs."

"They probably won't reach us. Grandpa Guy said that we're five miles underground," I said with false confidence, as much to reassure myself as the others.

"I doubt that's true," said Erica doubtfully. No really? She said it doubtfully? "The deepest hole that a human could fit in is only 2 and a half miles deep. I don't think they could've somehow doubled that."

"I don't think that they could make me be able to do this:" Jamie created a ball of light in her hand.

"No, I meant-"

"Whatever you meant, the bombs are getting closer," reported Taylor. "Listen."

We all listened, and we all heard it. Bombs exploding.

Oh god. We're all gonna die. I could feel the fear and tension in the air. I could also hear Lea cursing her mind-reading abilities. I had no idea how hard it must be for her and Sophie, being able to hear everyone think, 'I'm gonna die'.

I decided to switch it up and think, 'We'll survive'. I didn't exactly believe it, but whatever.

I bounced up and down nervously. The explosions kept getting louder. Tears seeped down my face. I tried to hold them back, to be ready for battle, but I couldn't.

And then the ceiling collapsed.
