I awoke to the thoughts of yesterday's picnic floating around in my head. I looked outside. It was still dark out. I must've gotten up early. I thought. Then, I heard the quietest of voices, talking above me. One, was obviously Hook, while the other, I couldn't quite place. I assumed it belonged to someone in the crew. I listened carefully. Hook spoke first.

"No, we need to go right now, Captain, while she's asleep." While I was asleep? And who's this Captain? Hook captains his own ship. I kept listening. "Yes, Killian, I understand. You don't want her to know. But it's almost daylight. We'd never make it in time." "But we must try Captain. If Beth knew that I was doing this again, she, she'd never forgive me..." The Captain snorted. "Beth!?! You gave her a nickname! Don't tell me you've actually grown attached to this girl!" "No sir, of course not." The speed at which Killian replied made my heart hurt. Like someone just jabbed it with a knife. There was no hesitation. "Good. Now I say let's wait it out tonight and then we'll steal some more treasure tomorrow night." Silence.

I decided I had heard enough, curled back in my bed, and slowly drifted off into sleep. I'd talk to Killian in the morning.
