I looked at the person. Suddenly I gasped. I knew exactly who she was. But it couldn't be. This woman had died many years ago. Or so I was told.

"Mother?" I sank to my knees as she came closer. "Bethany dearest. I haven't seen you in forever." She placed a hand on my cheek. "You were dead." I looked away from her. "You can't seriously show up right now Mother. That's not right. You supposedly died 17 years ago. You left my life at age 3. You left Father to care for me for all those years. Mother, a girl needs her mom." I cried. "I know Bethany. It wasn't right of me." She looked at the ground. "Why? Why did you pretend to die?" I burst. She didn't look me in the eyes when she said, "I needed to leave. To protect you. From him." She pointed to Hook.

"Killian? But Mother I love him. He'd never hurt me." I looked at Hook. "You wouldn't, right Killian?" He looked uneasy. "Of course not Bethany. I love you too much to ever hurt you." I turned to my mom. "See Mother? He loves me." Although I didn't quite believe it myself.

"Bethany, I can't keep this from you." My mom looked me in the eyes. "A while back Killian came to an island, one where I just so happened to be hiding and he found me there. We began to talk and soon found out that we both knew you. I told him that I was your mother, but I also told him to keep that a secret because I needed to stay hidden." I fell to my knees. "No. That can't be true. Killian wouldn't keep something that big from me." I whipped my head back to Hook, hurt in my eyes. "Please tell me it's not true. Please." Hook shook his head. "I want to Beth, but I can't." I stood up and walked over to him. "Hook... You knew that my mom was alive and you didn't tell me? You knew how much I missed her. How much I grieved over her! And you couldn't tell me she was alive? God Hook! Do you know how much I cried over her?" I looked back at my mom. "Do you know how much I cried over you?" They looked at me with sad eyes. "Forget it. I'm done with this. I'm calling off the wedding!" And with that I ran back to my room.
