I sat on my bed, reading a book. Well, more accurately, I was looking through a scrapbook Hook had given me of all of our times spent together. My eyes started to water, but I wiped away my tears. I had to get over Hook. He isn't a part of my life anymore. This new prince will be. I will marry him and live with him happily, benefiting each kingdom in the process. But as hard as I tried, I knew I'd never get over Hook. He was my first love. You never truly get over your first love, right?
I must be crazy. I thought, looking at a picture of Hook and I, when we had the dishes soap battle. I must be. I can't possibly have fallen so in love with a pirate that every thought I have revolves around him and the possibility of us having a future together. No, I'm crazy. He's gone. Forever. I had to believe that there was no future for Hook and I. Pirates and princesses don't mingle, let alone get married and live happily ever after!
I heard a knock at the door. "Just a minute!" I called, pushing the scrapbook under a pillow. "Okay, come in." My father appeared at the doorway. "The other kingdom sent over a couple of gifts for you, along with a picture of your groom." I nodded. "Very well, thank you." I replied. "Wouldn't you like to see the face of the man you'll be married to in," he checked the calendar on my wall. "5 days?" I sighed. "Why not? It couldn't hurt." My father passed me the picture. I looked at it, somewhat disgusted by what I saw.
This was not the man I wanted to marry. He had greasy hair, crooked, black and yellow teeth, dull eyes, snot hanging from his nose, and his outfit was in complete disarray. This man could not be a prince! How could his family let him walk around like that, giving such a name to his kingdom? I shook my head and handed back the picture. "He's...lovely." I said. "Wonderful!" My father responded as he bounded out of the room. "Yes...wonderful."
