I ran back to the alter and found my mother, crying on a bench. She was being comforted by my father. I instantly felt guilty.

Slowly, I made my way over to them. "Father, may I please speak to my mother?" I asked. He nodded, stepping away from the bawling figure. I took a step towards her and said sharply, "Mother, I need to know everything. And the only person I can get that information from is you." She nodded her head up and down. "I know dear, and I want to tell you, I just don't want to wreck things." "Wreck what?" "Things. You and Hook, your wedding." I was confused. "You won't wreck those, Mother. Hook and I are fine. There will still be a wedding." Her eyes lit up. "Oh thank goodness! I thought I ruined everything!" I shook my head. "Now please, what went on at the island? Why did you need to keep yourself a secret?" I questioned. My mother took a deep breath and began explaining...

"When you were 3, you were gravely ill. And so, I went out on an adventure to try and find a healing flower. I searched for days, and finally found one. I returned to you with the flower, fed it to you through soup, and you immediately felt better. I felt like a great mother. But that didn't last for too long. I kept making mistakes and soon I decided I wasn't fit to be a mother, so I left. I never told anyone where I was going. I set sail on a ship and staged my own death, all the while disappearing from the world. 17 years after complete solitude, I ran into Killian. It was completely accidental, but we soon became friends. He saw resemblances of you in me, so he questioned it. I told him how you were my daughter but I was such a horrible mother I had to leave. He understood, but told me he couldn't keep this from you. I had to beg him to. Finally, he agreed. I spent the next couple of months back in solitude, because Hook travelled back to you. Then, I heard you were getting married and I came to finally show everyone that I was alive. And now we're here, in this situation."

I smiled and before I knew what I was doing, I wrapped my arms around my mother and gave her a quick hug.

"What was that for?" She asked. "For coming back." I responded.
