It was a couple of days later and Rory still hadn't taken the bandage off, even though the doctor said he could.

"Rory, are you scared of what your back looks like? you still have the bandage on".

"No, I know what it looks like, I'm scared of what you'll think of it" he looked at his wife as he sat down on the sofa next to her.

She sighed and took his hand, stroking it, "no matter what it looks like, no matter how bad it is, it isn't going to change anything between us, you need to understand that, Rory, I love you for you, not for what you look like".

He smiled slightly and kissed her cheek, "I love you"

"I love you too" she stroked the back of his neck, "do you want to go into the bathroom and take it off?"

He hesitated before nodding, "okay" he stood up and took her hand, going upstairs with her.

Amy sat on the edge of the bath as Rory faced the mirror, his back to her, he took his shirt off and looked at her reflection, "are you sure about this?"

She looked back at him in the mirror and nodded, "yeah, I'm sure".

He took a deep breath and undid the bandage, taking it off and looking down, closing his eyes.

Amy stood up looking at his back and teared up, "oh my god" she whispered to herself before taking a couple of steps towards him, wiping her tears away, "Rory look at me".

He turned around opening his eyes and looked at her, "now you know why I didn't want you to see it".

"No, Rory, it's okay, I don't care how bad it is, it doesn't change anything at all, I still love you as much as I ever did" she took hold of both his hands and stroked them, "turn around, I want to see it again".

He slowly turned back around and Amy gently reached out to touch his back, "just tell me if this hurts okay". She very gently stroked her thumb over his back a few times.

Rory winced slightly and closed his eyes.

"Sorry" she moved her hand away and took hold of his hand, turning him around again and kissing him for a few seconds before wrapping her arms around his neck, hugging him, "I love you so much".

"I love you too" he hugged her back, "I love you so much".
