Babysitting

"He's peeing! He's peeing on me! What do I do?!" Bucky yelled from the nursery. You sighed, setting the bottles down for a moment. Your sister had left for the weekend and needed a babysitter- which landed you and your lovely, inexperienced boyfriend Bucky, here. You found Bucky holding baby Ben, a wet line running down the middle of his shirt that happened to be one of your favorites. Bucky wore an expression of exasperation as he looked at you. "We're never having kids." He said flatly, holding Ben out to you.

"Well I think you might change your mind sometime." You said taking Ben from his hands, bouncing him lightly. Bucky watched as you put his diaper on, trying to memorize every move, so he could do it when Ben work up in the middle of the night. Ben yawned, snuggling closer to your chest. He needed to be fed- he'd probably fall asleep halfway through feeding him. "I'm gonna go feed him. You should talk to Steve. It's been awhile since you called him." You said with a smile. Bucky rolled his eyes but smiled back.

"Yes mother."

James POV
James quickly dialed Steve's number, his hands shaking from nerves.

"Hey Buck, what's up?" Steve asked, clearly occupied with something else by the lack of enthusiasm in his voice.

"I'm gonna marry her." James said quickly, almost not believing the words that came out of his mouth.

"What?! Who?" Steve asked- his attention on Bucky.

"Y/N, I'm gonna marry her." James said a little quieter- hoping you wouldn't hear.

"Well, Bucky that's great!" Steve said, sincerely happy for him. But there was still that tinge of doubt- a small part of him that would never return- that part that kept him up at night, shivering, whimpering like a child.

"What if she says no?" James asked quickly.

"Trust me Buck, she won't. I've seen the way she looks at you. There's nothing short of adoration in her eyes. Please don't do this to yourself. Go get her tiger." He said hanging up before Bucky could respond.
