An Alpha is Hard to Love

CHAPTER 2: "That will be a problem"

I busted through the main doors of Greycrest high I was late, I hate being late. Taking big strides that my short legs could manage I was focused on getting to my first class, until something stopped me dead in my tracks.

There is a new alpha among us. 

My senses heightened and my inner beast was getting antsy.

"Chill Liz, this happens you're not the only alpha on the premises..." I mumble to myself

I never felt that way before knowing a new alpha was coming, all the alphas in this town know each other and have weekly meetings every Friday night to discuss progress or news. I quickly check my phone for any missed calls or messages. 

Nothing.

The new alpha is coming anonymously .

I didn't feel right about this,  I quickly went to make a new message on my phone to the lead alpha of the town but the bell rang.

"Shit I only have a minute... whats my first class?" I ask myself

I check my schedule  

AP English RM 203 

"great..." I growled under my breath 

I broke into a fast walk and found the class, most of the seats were taken but then a familiar face waved me over from the back of the class. I sighed a moment of relief when Dom was sitting next to an empty seat. 

"Someone's late" he says with a smirk

"Shut up... it was someone who made me late..." I said bluntly 

"What happened to you?" Dom asks carefully 

"There is a new alpha coming and whoever it is is coming without welcome" I said in a hushed tone 

Dom just sat in his seat and stared at the desk. He slowly made his eyes back to my face. 

"You don't think its-" Dom was directly cut off

"No. never." I said 

Then a short stalky man walks into the room 

"Good morning class! my name is Mr. Cari and welcome to AP English, I hope you all had an eventful summer and did your summer assignment of reading the famous epic Beowulf" he said with a bright smile

Silence was passed around the class 

"Well Im going to take that as a no then?" Mr. Cari asked disappointedly 

Silence.

"Ok well since its the first day back and you all already received the syllabus during the summer we will take class today to catch up... but I expect everyone to be caught up by tomorrow for a quiz on the first 50 pages got it?" Mr. Cari said 

And everyone gave relieved sighs and smiles in agreement

"Ok well get to it class!" Mr. Cari stated

Everyone broke into groups and started to talk and only a few started to read 

Typical.

Dom and I just sit back and look at each other happy that we actually read the book and don't need to study tonight.

"So about the new... uh... student... how does it feel?" 

"Different...it feels like an invisible rope is tugging on me saying that this person is getting closer... I never felt that... you usually don't until they are really near you and their scent becomes familiar" I said
