Tilly's POV

Eddy? I don't know an Eddy.

I wait anxiously for my mum to come in so I can confront her about who Eddy is. When she comes through the door at 9:37 I make no hesitation to jump out of my seat and approach her.

"Hey Mum." I greet.

"Hello Tilly."

"How are you?"

"I'm okay thank you, are you okay?" She asks which is rare.

"Yes I'm okay."

"How was work?"

"Stressful but we are almost set up completely now."

"That's good."

'Just ask the question' I say to myself.

"Any new people joining the company?"

"No why?"

"Oh... Um..."

"Tilly what are you talking about."

"Who's Eddy?"

"Eddy? I don't know an Eddy. They must have got the wrong number. I'm positive that I do not know anyone called Eddy at all." She says and I can tell she is hiding something but I'm going to drop it because I'll find out sooner or later.

"Okay goodnight mum."

"Goodnight Tilly." She returns.

**

It's Sunday. Father's Day. The most shittiest day of the year.

The day I do not leave my house because and this may sound rude but I can not bare walking around seeing everyone with their dads. The day I switch off the world and usually distract myself with a movie or a drawing whilst listening to music. You may think I'm being selfish but it's heartbreaking to walk around seeing dads with their children having fun. Don't get me wrong I'm glad they're having fun but it's not as much fun for me. I'm sure there are plenty of people in my situation who do exactly what I do. Sometimes we will go and visit my grandparents but since we have moved to California it's not that easy.

I'm thankful that my mum knows not to try and make me feel better because nothing could do that. Today was meant to be about those amazing dads just like mine was. Nothing else just them.

As soon as I lay eyes on my phone I switch it off. I get up and wander down the stairs carelessly and pick out a cereal box at random from the cupboard. I pour a bowl of cornflakes and some milk and take it over to the breakfast table. Once I have finally eaten my cereal I clear everything away. The sun is shining in through the window and lighting a section of the floor that now has my shadow covering some of it.

I go into the living room and switch on the TV turning it to the channel with friends on it. I watch one episode and then I go upstairs.

I'm changed out of my pyjamas and showered by 9:20. I scan my room for a film to watch but I can't see any so I pick up my drawing pad and sketching pencils. I decide to go out into the garden as the house was hot and I ended up drawing the inside of my little cottage making sure every aspect was right. My mind begins to wander and I think back to some of the times I spent with my dad. I set my drawing pad beside of me and then go inside to get something I haven't touched for years.
