Hey guys!! I know I haven't been keeping up with my updating at all, school has been crazy, and I recently just got the lead in our HS drama production!! WOO HOOO!! I'm honestly so excited but also nervous because school, and commitments, and stupid stuff like that, but I promise I will do my absolute best to keep up with the updating! Okay, without further ado...

Last time... Chase's school is next in line to be slaughtered by the creatures, but not before Lana finds her way into the school to try and find the nurse. She passes out in the middle of the hallway, and Chase was the one to find her. After a second of reminiscing at her beauty, he races her to the nurses office where the nurse tries to patch her up, but the creatures attack soon after he gets there. Chase barely escapes with Lana in his arms, and he spends the rest of the day hiding in the storage room. Later, a creature threatens to open the door and he hides in the cabinet with Lana where the creature finds him and almost attacks him, but curiously it doesn't, and Chase swears he sees the red eyes change to a green he knows all too well. Almost as quickly as it came it was gone, and then the creature runs away, leaving Chase and Lana unharmed. Chase can only say one thing.. "Mom". In the king creature chapter, he reveals that he wants to kill Lana because she was his daughter and his last tie to humanity and he needs her dead before he fulfills his plans to take over the world.

Lana

I didn't wake up where I last was. In fact, I didn't know where I was at all.

I stared up into a net of branches and fireflies. No, they weren't fireflies, they were... flowers. They glowed like tiny candles in the trees.

I wince as I sit up. When I look down, I see that my wounds are dressed. All of them. I feel my neck and my fingers meet the slick surface of a band-aid. Someone had done this for me. And whoever had taken me away from the person who did this must be... A creature! One of those things!! I could feel my brain rocking inside my head.

As I reach down for one of my knives, a twig that had fallen from the old willow tree that towered over me snapped in half. The noise was louder than I thought it was going to be.

My heart skips a beat as I hear stirring from the other side of the tree. I snatch my crowbar from my boot and hold it in front of me, ready to stab a creature at any moment. My knees rattle as I slowly rise to my feet. Head spinning, I ask,

"Who's there?" Spots clouded my vision and my mouth was dry and wet at the same time. I was sick.

A hand wraps around the side of the tree and half of someone's head peeks out. A boy, it looked like, I couldn't be sure with my abstracted vision. He takes a step away from the tree, revealing blonde hair, an angular, chiseled looking face, and blue-green eyes. On a day that I wasn't fatally sick, his appearance would have made my heart skip a beat and my cheeks flush. He takes another step toward me, his hand in front of him, like I was a dangerous animal ready to pounce. He looked potentially dangerous, his muscles hidden under his T-shirt... He took me away from my friends. He was going to hurt me. He took me away from whoever saved me. He was the monster!

Another step.

"Don't come any closer," I warn, my crowbar shaking in my hand.

"I'm trying to help," he says.

"I don't need any help!" I yell. It hurt. It hurt badly. The noise made my ears ring and my head spin.

A shudder runs through my body and my knees buckle. I fall onto the damp leaves, my crowbar scraping my cheek. The boy kneels at my side. His hands are over me, like he wants to help me but a magnetic field is repelling him from doing so.

My body shudders and shakes so badly I can hardly form the words that come out of my mouth. "Please don't hurt me," I breathe. I see his body release tension.
