a/n: Have any of you ever been in a flour fight like last chapter? (not romantically counts xD)
I got into a flour fight with my sister's best friend, Deryn, and my sister. My mom told me, my sister, and Deryn to make some cookies because we were bored and had nothing to do. Well my sister and Deryn took out the ingredients and I walked over and said I wanted to do something and me and Deryn started arguing over what to do and I noticed that some flour spilled on the ground and then Deryn took some of the flour and sprinkled it over my sister who took it back and sprinkled it over Deryn. I tried to get out of it but then Deryn took some flour and spilled it over me and then some over my sister again, and we attacked her with the flour after that. Then we started throwing flour everywhere in my kitchen and my mom came back and her reaction was hilarious.
"I'll be right back. I'll go grab us the ice cream," Sophie said. She turned to Amy. "Chocolate?"
Amy nodded. "How'd you--"
"Memories change, feelings don't. I know how you feel about chocolate ice cream," Sophie explained. She kissed Keefe's cheek. "I'll get you strawberry," she told him, standing up. "I'll be right back."
Keefe watched Sophie walk away before turning back to Amy. "So, was it hard not telling your parents?"
She nodded. "Yeah. It was even harder getting out of the house," she said. "I'm an adult now but because they still pay the bills and I still live with them, I have to stay under their rules. We usually all have lunch together on Mondays."
Keefe nodded in understanding. "Ah, that-"
"Natalie?" A girl came running over. "Oh my gosh, it's been so long!" The girl shouted, going in for a hug. She turned to Keefe. "Are you her boyfriend?"
Keefe shook his head. "No, I'm married."
"You're married?" The girl gasped in shock, looking at Natalie. "How long?"
Keefe laughed. "No, I'm married to her. . . Friend," he said. "She's getting ice cream right now." He said turning to the direction of where Sophie had walked away to see her walking over with three ice cream cones. She handed the one with strawberry to Keefe and then handed Amy the chocolate one.
"What did I miss?" She asked, looking at Keefe.
"This is my old best friend from high school, Courtney," Amy introduced. "This is my friend, Sophie, and her husband, Keefe," she then introduced to Courtney.
Courtney grinned. "Hi guys," she said, waving. She turned to Amy. "I heard from Thomas you have a boyfriend, though," she said.
"I do, his name's Cameron. I have a date with him tonight actually," she said.
Courtney nodded, grinning. "Oh, and happy birthday!"
Amy grinned. "Thanks, Court. We should catch up later! What's your number?" The two exchanged and then Courtney walked away. Amy sighed. "I'm never going to talk to that girl again in my life."
Sophie nodded. "So, do you have any questions for us?" She asked, smiling carefully.
"Just. . . Was our family happy before? I feel it but I also feel like I was a witness, not someone who actually went through it." She swallowed. "Were we happy? That's my question."
Sophie smiled softly. "We were. . . A family. We loved each other. At times we weren't happy with each other and got into fights but all in all our family as a whole was happy," she answered.
Amy nodded. "Then why did you leave?"
Tears filled Sophie's eyes and she let out a shaky breath. "I. . . I was happy but I didn't belong," she tried to explain.
