AN:// So, basically I got dragged to a New Year's Eve party and am writing this on my phone because I'm socially awkward and don't know anyone here. But, as you read in the chapter's title, this has nothing to do with the plot. I'm sorry for not updating yesterday, but I do hope you enjoy this short one shot :)
(PS: This is written in the future after Amy and Bernadette come in)

"Awe, c'mon Shelly, let loose!" An already drunken Penny exclaimed handing the scientist a beer.
"Only my mother calls me that. With the occasional exception of Leah." He retorted, without grabbing the alcoholic beverage from the blonde, but instead studied the hands that rested in his lap.
"Please Shelly." She wined.
"You shouldn't use peer pressure to get your friends to do things Penny." Leah says before sitting down next to her boyfriend, in her designated spot of course, after smoothing out her black sparkly short skirt that matched Penny's leggings, Amy's dress skirt and Bernadette's dress.
"You shouldn't use such technical terms Le-le." Bernadette's high pitched voice rang out as the shorter, more intelligent, blonde used the nickname Leah absolutely despised.
"And I thought I told you to stop calling me that." Leah retorted.
"I agree with Leah," Amy joined in the conversation, sitting next to her 'bestie.'
"You always agree with Leah." Penny groaned.
"That's because Leah and I typically share the same views." The brunette defended. "Besides, how could a beautiful and enticing creature such as herself not always be right?" Amy's comment caused Sheldon to squirm in his seat, not liking anyone commenting on Leah's beauty but him.
"Thank you Amy." Leah smiled.
"You're welcome Leah." The other female, who sat on the couch next to her, smiled in return.
"Can we get back to the original conversation please?" Penny groaned.
"Yeah, we gotta loosen Shelly up!" Bernadette squealed.
"Should we stop this?" Leonard asked as the three other men stood in the kitchen, watching the scene in front of them.
"We probably should," Howard started, "but we're not good friends, so we won't."
"I think," the Indian contributed, "that we should help Penny and Bernadette."
"I think I agree." The man in skin tight red pants nodded.
"Guys..." Leonard made a weak attempt at stopping them from tormenting his best friend. (Because no matter how much he denied it, Leonard cared for the lanky scientists, and thought of him as a best friend, just as Sheldon did him.)
"Yeah Shelly, loosen up a little!" Howard teased.
"Maybe we'll finally get a glimpse at what you and Leah do in the dark." Raj jabbed, causing the couple to redden almost immediately, and the two blondes to laugh, harder than they would have if they were sober (maybe.)
"For your information," Leah started, "all we do in the dark is sleep, and if you're talking about specifically me, I might read a some gay Fanfictions on my laptop." She defended.
"That's not true, when the occasion calls, we cuddle." Sheldon corrected shyly. (Well as shy as Doctor Sheldon Cooper PhD could get.)
"Awe." The three other women cooed, including Amy, and Howard and Raj joined in using a mocking tone.
"Oh, hush." Leah rolled her eyes, before looking at a giggling Leonard as she stood. "And you need to get your friends and girlfriend to back off."
"But it's so funny!" He chuckled.
"Sheldon is your best friend, and he feels uncomfortable. Be a good person and make them knock it off." She retorted, and smile Sheldon gave her was awkward, yet grateful.
However hesitant he may have been, Leonard got the naggers to back off soon though.
"I don't understand how you two are already drunk, it's only 8:30. New Years isn't until Midnight you know." Sheldon mumbled his information, his face still red at Howard and Raj's mockery.
"Because it's New Year's Eve Shelly!" Penny exclaimed as both blondes giggled.
"That is no excuse." Sheldon said, causing both female brunettes to nod and the blondes to roll their eyes, not being reminded for the first time of Sheldon's habits.
"So, let's change the subject." Amy suggested.
"Perfect idea Amelia." Leah smiled as her black sparkling uggs hit the floor. She sat down in between her boyfriend and best friend, only now with a bottle of water.
"So, what would you like to discuss?"
"You and Sheldon's New Year's kiss." She responded with an all too wide grin that begged for details of an event that had yet to happen, if it were to occur at all. The chances were unlikely, knowing the two scientists.
"I second that vote!" Penny and Bernadette exclaimed at once, giggling at their unison.
"I have to admit, I am curious." Leonard agreed, sitting down on one of the stools he brought from the kitchen, considering even the floor was taken by Howard and Raj.
"Yeah Shelly, please tell us." Howard begged.
"I will not hesitate to dunk you into a river." Leah threatened the engineer. "And if you all must know, if it will occur at all it will be quick and not in front of any of you."
"Thank you Leah." Sheldon mumbled.
"You're welcome Shelly." Leah said, using the nickname she rarely called him.

An hour had passed, and Sheldon gave into the peer pressure that resumed when the clock struck 9. He was now very drunk, and the four men sat around his laptop watching videos of pigeons playing ping pong. All of them were giggling worse then the blondes normally did, signaling that their alcohol consumption was past tipsy.
"I am dating an idiot." Leah sighed.
"Imagine dating that, but more perverted." Amy commented, referencing her relationship with Stuart.
"At least your grass hopper is willing to participate in coitus." She sighed as she sipped her first, (and only) glass of champagne. Leah wasn't a typically expensive girl, but she did believe in tradition and champagne, she was told, was a tradition. Her being the tradition-liking girl she was, really did want that New Year's Kiss. She wouldn't be exponentially disappointed if she didn't get it, but Sheldon never let her participate in that tradition. She had hoped, and still did, that now that he had worked up the nerve to profess his love, he could grow a pair and at least peck her cheek once the clock strikes 12. It's not like they hadn't had a good make out session every once and a while, and she found the request reasonable.
"What seems to be troubling you bestie?" Amy questioned.
"Like I said," Leah started before sighing out, "your grasshopper is willing to have coitus and I fear mine won't even peck my cheek at the begging of the year." With that she stood to grab water, not wanting to be drunk when she took her midnight champagne. She planned on it being her second drink of the night, and didn't want to betray the plan as easily as her partner did.
"Well, to be fair," Amy made an attempt at reassurance as she trailed after her friend, her black flats hitting the floor, "he is drunk. He might do more than just give you a peck."
"That's not better." She said, standing up from her bent position in the fridge as she scoured for a bottle of water. "If he does it because he's drunk it won't be him. It'll be the beer and the vodka and the one glass of champagne." She listed the beverages she carefully tracked Sheldon downing through out the night, and the one that had yet to come. Just like that damned New Year's Kiss.
"Vodka?" Penny asked, rounding the corner excitedly.
"For God sakes." Leah groaned. "I don't understand why you all insist on being drunk. At least me and Amy have the right mind to start off the New Year without a hang over."
"Because that's the only way you can start it baby!" Raj exclaimed, and in that moment her eyes almost watered. Almost. She was about to break down and she had no clue as to why. Maybe it was the stress of dealing with a bunch of drunken idiots. Yes, that must've been it. So, she decided to replace the tears with anger directed more at the beer than her friends.
"Are you alright Leah?" Leonard slurred.
"Damn it Leonard, you can't even talk right!" She yelled, before walking out of the room because that wasn't how she wanted to start this year, wether they could remember it or not, because she would remember it and that's what mattered. So, she sat on the bed that she shared with Sheldon (yes, they agreed to share a room after they both carefully agreed on rules to respect both male and female's privacy, and property. Also their cleaning habits.) and she pouted, yes the infamous Dr. Leah Gaublehauser pouted. She might've been acting childish, but at least she wasn't drunk. But she knew now that she definitely wouldn't be getting that New Year's kiss and she wasn't sure if that made her want to cry or be even more mad because now if it happened the other participant would be hammered and she wouldn't be able to enjoy it quite as much.
"Leah?" Amy tentatively knocked. "Everyone feels bad for upsetting you, especially Howard."
"Sheldon?" She asked, making the other girl hesitate long enough to confirm her suspicions. "He's too drunk to care, isn't he?"
"Everyone else is really sorry and just wants to know what's wrong." The answer made her scoff in annoyance while she tried to ignore the fact that she kinda felt like crying again.
"Tell Sheldon that the alcohol lowered his IQ because normally he'd be smart enough to at least try and apologise for not caring."
"I don't think he doesn't care, it's just that, he's drunk,"
"And we both said we wouldn't get drunk and would, at most, have two glasses of champagne and maybe one beer." Leah recited their agreement. "Also, remind his that in the relationship agreement, it states that both parties must enter the New Year on good terms or else the party that fucked up had to make it up to the other party." She knew she was paraphrasing, but the message got across. "I'll be expecting an apology soon, or else I'm demanding at least an extra date night."
"Is that all?" Amy asked tentatively.
"Tell the rest of them that I'm mad at alcohol, not them, and that I thank them all for giving a shit." She said before adding, "you should paraphrase that to make it sound less rude though... And less sarcastic."
"Alright Leah, and if you don't come out, happy New Years. From all of us."
"Happy New Years."
~*~
"Leah?" This time the voice was male, and was repeated in a pattern. "Leah?" Three knocks again. "Leah?" The last time the voice was quieter, as well as the knock.
"It's your room, you don't have to knock." Was Leah's reply, and the door answered to reveal a more sober Sheldon as he stepped into the room and closed the door.
"It felt appropriate in this situation." He stated. "I'm sorry for giving into peer pressure so easy, and straying from our plan." He apologised, and she could tell that it wasn't recited based on his terminology, even if it was a little dumbed down because of his alcohol consumption. "But if I may," No, you were doing so well. She mentally begged him to stop. "I don't quite believe it was my alcohol consumption you were upset with. May I ask what it was?"
"I'm..." The question had stumped the female, something questions couldn't normally do. "I don't know either."
"You don't know." Sheldon scoffed as he sat down next to Leah, earning a glare from his girlfriend. "Sorry, that was inconsiderate, I'm still working on that."
"I know you are." She sighed. "I guess I do sorta know."
"Then why would you say you didn't?" He quizzed.
"Because it's silly and not true." She replied. "I guess I felt a little neglected. I knew that that midnight kiss wouldn't come again, and then you just got drunk and strayed from our plan, and I kinda got frustrated. You're not normally the best at showing your emotions, but you've been especially bad at it lately." She explained.
"What do you mean?" Sheldon inquired.
"You've been hugging me less and you won't kiss me, and I guess, I guess once you said that you loved me I thought you'd display at least a little more emotion." She answered.
"I'd like to point out that I share a room with you. I've never even allowed my sister into my room. Don't you realise you've already gotten me to expand my limits Leah?" He asked.
"I'm sorry, like I said it was silly and untrue." She reminded.
"I wouldn't call it silly. When I exclaimed my love for you, I promised that I would always care about your emotions. By calling them silly, or even agreeing that they are, would be breaking that promise." Sheldon explained.
"You never made that promise." Leah's eyebrows scrunched together.
"Well, I'll make it now." Sheldon smiled.
"Thank you." She blushed, when they heard their friends start the count down, and Sheldon grabbed her wrist and brought her to the living room. He handed her a champagne glass, twin to his, as the two watched and waited for the ball to drop.
Then she finally got that New Year's Kiss.
