Avery's POV

"Hello?" I answer the blocked number.

"Hello, Avery." A rough voice snarls.

Dad.

"Leave me alone." I run and get Dad.

"Oh, don't worry, I don't want you anyways. You don't have anything that I want. But you may be happy to know that I have somebody that your so-called 'Mom and Dad' would love to have back." He spits at me.

"Dad!" I scream, my voice cracking because of how high pitched it was.

"Avery! Are you okay?" He comes running into the room.

"No! It's my old Dad! He said he has somebody that you would love to have back!" I hand him the phone.

"What do you want and who do you have?" Dad yells into the phone.

"Oh, nobody you would remember. Gabriel, say hello." John cackles.

Oh my god. John, my old dad, has Gabriel, my brother.

"H-h-hi." A young voice stutters.

"G-Gabriel? Is that you buddy?" Dad whispers into the phone.

"H-hi Dad." The voice cracks.

"Missy! Come here!" Dad yells to Mom.

"What's wrong?" Mom hurries over.

"Gabriel, he's alive." Dad smiles.

"Yeah and John has him!" I state the obvious.

Mom starts crying and I hang up on John, running over to Mom and Dad.

"We have to get him back." I whisper to Dad.

"Yes, but how?" Mom asks, hearing our conversation.

So apparently I'm not a very good whisperer.

"I've got it!" Dad cheers.

"How?" Mom and I in unison, hoping this might work.

"We're going to court."
