Chapter 22

During Frances, Nico, and Dianne's fight with Joe Bob, what happened with Leo, Clarisse, and the two giants? Here's the chapter for it, plus the continuation of the last chapter.

Leo's POV

"Hey Big Blob, come and get me!" yelled Frances, who ran along the hallway. Honestly, how could she have the guts to be chased by a giant? Me - I'm scared for life.

But of course, I don't want to show them that I'm scared, so I managed to maintain my smile.

But still, Frances running away, chased by a giant, worries me. Especially that she's alone. 

"Frances!" I shouted as Joe Bob ran after her. 

Marrow Sucker and Skull Eater looked at me, with hungry looks in their eyes. 

"4 puny demigods versus 2 strong and fearless giants?" said Skull Eater. "We'll surely win!" 

Skull Eater then punched Nico.

All of us gasped. Clarisse was on the ground, because Joe Bob punched her a while ago, but I think she can recover. Nico, remained  like a lump on the ground. Marrow Sucker picked him off the ground.

"Leo!" called Dianne, while the two giants were with Nico. "I'm sorry to leave you, but I have to help my sister." 

She then ran away, leaving me with Clarisse, who was now standing beside me, and the unconscious Death Boy.

Marrow Sucker and Skull Eater then blocked each path of the hallway.

"So? What are we gonna do now?" exclaimed Clarisse. "Let's fight!"

Of course it's fine for her to fight giants. She's the daughter of Ares! But, what's fine for me is to go sit down a chair and disassemble the table.

But there's no table here, is there?

I was in the midst of searching for a table (which will NOT help at all), when my face met Skull Eater's hand. Yep, he punched me. 

Honestly, do all Laistrygonian giants use punching as their weapon? 

That gives me an idea that may not actually work... But it could...

Anyway, I'm in no condition to fight. I'm not good at boxing, sword fighting, archery, etcetera, etcetera... But I'm good at mechanism, pranking, and setting the campfire, so I must be happy that I'm good at some things.

And I will use my expertice in these things and the only thing giants do, to formulate my plan, which is.... Eh... I don't know.... I'm not that smart.

"Leo! Don't just lie down on the ground and pretend there's nothing happening! Help me fight these giants! Ugh!" shouted Clarisse as she slashed a big metal chain across Marrow Sucker's face. 

Marrow Sucker then attempted to punch Clarisse. Good thing Clarisse's reaction time was good. She quickly dodged the punch and Marrow Sucker ended up punching Skull Eater's back, making Skull Eater angry.

Hmmm.... If I could make a contraption that has the ability when it is hit to counteract the hit with either a same force, or a greater one.

I looked around and saw rope hanging on the side, sacks full of who-knows-what behind the giants, a trunk of books in the corner, and a pair of scissors on the floor. 

I could easily make a contraption, the only problem is if I could reach it and make it in time.

One phrase only came in my mind: Interact with them.
