Chapter 27

Frances's POV

I didn't get a good night's rest, because of its brevity and because of my nightmares. It had something to do with Peleus again. I already knew what would happen after my last nightmare, and expected it. I knew that King Acastus would try to kill Peleus but won't succeed. I also knew that Peleus would kill King Acastus and Queen Astydameia using my sword. And maybe that's why it wasn't my nightmare, because I already knew it.

My nightmare was scarier than ever.

I was in a very dark room with only a candle as the light. I tried to reach out for the candle but two hands grabbed me. I turned around and saw Eurytion, the King of Phthia, who was accidentally killed by Peleus.

"Hello, heir of the cursed sword," he said in a rather raspy voice. I tried to answer but was terrified when I saw that there was a hole in his chest.

I looked towards the candle, and saw that it was being held by a bloody Queen Astydameia and King Acastus.

"What's the problem Frances? Are you scared?" they both said in unison. I wished to grab my sword, but I was being held tight by Eurytion.

"No, I'm not!" I yelled, with my whole body shaking.

"But, yes you are," a different voice said. A person stepped into the light. At first, I didn't recognize the face but later on, I saw that he looked a lot like Peleus. Their faces look alike, then I realized.

"You're Phocus, Peleus's half-brother," I stated.

"Yes, and he killed me using your sword," he said, showing his bare body that was covered in scars, bruises, and plenty of wounds. Its bloody sight was really disturbing.

"That sword also killed me," said Eurytion, releasing me from his tight grip.

"I was chopped to pieces with that sword," said Queen Astydameia and King Acastus at the same time, in a rather flat tone.

"And now, our boss will make sure that the sword be destroyed and the heir be vanquished! And she will rule all over the world, killing everyone who wouldn't follow her!" All of them said at once.

"You have a boss? Who is it?" I asked them, completely terrified, and holding on my sword.

All of them looked at me with red eyes and all at once they pounced at me, making me scream and eventually, wake up.

I sat down on my bed and stared at the door, trying to forget the nightmare. But as Mom always said, the more you try to forget the more you remember. Sigh, Mom, I missed her, I really do. What would she say if she found out that I had less than a week of training, and now I'm on a quest that can lead to my demise.

So far, there are plenty of things that kept bothering me. First of all, this quest. Like, how am I going to kill all monsters in a few weeks? Second, my nightmares about this cursed sword. I'm pretty terrified of what will happen to me, especially because of the dream that I just had. Third, I'm starting to become homesick. I miss Mom, I miss Paul and his tutoring, I miss my normal home, with me and Dianne loving each other without any hindrances. And last, Leo Burning Valdez. He's the reason why Dianne and I fought, but he's also the reason why I learned how to love.

Reflections and past experiences with him made me smile.

But whenever I remember my sister's jealous and angry voice, I tell myself that I should avoid Leo.

I shook my thoughts about Leo away, because whatever I do, there's always something that makes me think about him, like now.

I looked at the clock and saw that it was exactly 3:35 am, only 1 hour and 55 minutes left until we reach Charybdis and Scylla. Clarisse must be awake right now, preparing the cannons or something. So I jumped off my bed and changed into a blue and white striped shirt that I got from Paul as a birthday gift last year. I brushed my teeth and washed my face, and later on, I got out of the room.
