Chapter 34: A new level of bipolarity

Recap:

I focused back on Dixon, Kitty and Will. Kitty took a step forward so that she could stand in front of Will, and then… she started to blur. Her features started changing, and before I knew it, instead of Kitty, Mia was standing there.

What the hell just happened?

I blinked a couple of times and looked back to where Will, Dixon, and Mia, or should I say Kitty, were standing. They were all talking as if changing into another human being was completely normal. I just stood there and stared in shock. I started to feel a little light headed for a moment, but right now wasn’t the time to faint, so I slapped myself. For some odd reason, it helped.

How on earth did Kitty just change into Mia? That only happened in movies, or books, or fairytales. It didn’t happen in real life. It just didn’t work that way. There’s no place for magic and talking animals in my life.

It crossed my mind that maybe I was dreaming, but I knew deep down that I wasn’t. Or maybe I was hallucinating, because of all the stress I’ve gone through? It was possible. I always thought I was a sane person, but don’t all crazy people think that?

I had to talk to somebody to tell them what I just saw, so that they can tell me that it’s all in my head.

If I could have called anyone it would have been Will, but that was obviously not an option. The only other person I could think of was Kim.

I silently walked away from where I was standing and left Will, Dixon, and Mia/Kitty alone. I didn’t want them to overhear me talking to Kim.

With shaking hands I took my phone out of my pocket, and called Kim. I felt slightly guilty for calling Kim, after I told her not to call me, but this was an unusual case. I’m having hallucinations for God Sake!

A part of me deep down knew I wasn’t hallucinating and that what I had just seen was real, but I was trying to suppress that thought as hard as I could. I didn’t want this to be real. I preferred to be called insane. That’s what I wanted Kim to tell me.

Maybe I could just pretend I never saw anything?

“Hello?” I heard Kim say as she picked up.

“Hey Kim. It’s Lena.” I said.

“Lena! Are you okay? Did something happen?” She asked alarmed.

“No, I mean… yes! I mean… I don’t know.” I said confused. “I saw something really weird happen right now.”

“What?”

“Well… You’re not going to believe me. I don’t even believe it!” I exclaimed.

“Just tell me Lena.” Kim said encouragingly.

“I can’t believe I’m actually saying this.” I started. “Ok, so I was walking home, when all of a sudden I saw Will, Kitty and Dixon talking. I hid behind a tree like any other normal person would do.”

“Ehm… I don’t think normal people do that Lena.” Kim commented.

“In my world they do.” I retorted. “Anyways. So I was looking at them talk…”

“Spying you mean.” Kim interrupted me.

“I was LOOKING at them talk, when Kitty… here come the weird part… just changed into Mia. She just changed appearance… just like that.”
