Running to school is always fun, especially when no one gives a damn. Getting in on a scholarship, who gives a flying squirrel about the crazy new girl with white hair and red eyes? And anyway, It's silver, damn it, and any colour contacts make my eyes purple, which doesn't help.

One person cares, at least. Just one. Akira, my best -and only- friend. I bumped into him as he was walking to his next class. (Guess who missed first period) He saw me and waved me over. I walked up to him to see his friends practicaly running away, and glared after them.

"Good, more Akira for me!" I yelled after them. They startled at the sudden shout and quickened their pace. Akira chuckled and ruffled my hair.

"Did you have to?" he asked. I slapped his hand away and nodded as I fixed my hair.

"Yes. Yes I did." I replied, making him grin. After a few wrong turns because he was directionally challenged and I didn't care, we walked the right route to class together.

This fraction of the day that has passed has been annoying, because I've had to see people.

Good thing it's Friday.

--(Time skip of epicness)--

"...And then she said that you were weird for hanging out with me, so I punched her." I said casually.

Akira and I were in the principal's office after school. I had hit a girl for calling my friend weird. Anything wrong there? I had been lectured by the principal, but zoned out during most of it.

"...Are you listening, Miss Kuroi?" The principal's voice brought me back to reality.

"It was the evil monkey's idea, I swear! Wait, what'dyou say, Mr. T?" I looked around. Were we still in the office?

Damn, I was hoping it would be over by now. Mr. T looked over to Akira in frustration and gave him a pleading look. Akira sighed.

"Thanks Kuroi, but next time, voilence isn't needed."

Grr. Using Akira as a weapon against me. Damn you to the hottest pits of hell, old man. I pouted. No way in hell did I want to agree to it, but... it was Akira.

"Fine." I muttered, drawing a triumphant sound out of Mr. T. I glared at him before standing with Akira and readying myself to leave. He cleared his throat, and the two of us looked back to him. I blinked at the odd, formulating look on his face.

"Um. Yes?"

--Short Timeskip--

We were let out of the office after I was forced to make an oath to never hit a person over Akira again.

...I don't like this new "use the boy against her" thing.

'Becoming a good girl, I see, huh, Kuroi?" Tori's voice startled me, yet again for the day.

"Wait, you haven't died yet? I never thought anything could survive this long in my mind." I replied, our usual conversation. He huffed.

'I'm still, after twelve years, surprised at what you've got in your mind. What's with your obsession for red pandas?' he asked, incredulous as ever when asking the question. I shrugged.

"Gaara." As we walked home, Akira was whistling a tune that I knew perfectly well.

Naruto's theme song!

I hummed it along with him, because I couldn't whistle to save my life, and eventually we ended up singing (shouting lyrics) at the top of our lungs on the sidewalk.

So, we raced to my house (Kago was dying to see Akira again) and got the Naruto DVDs ready. Akira was rummaging through my cupboards and fridge and Kago was lying next to me as I started the first episode. Yes, we're rewatching.

"Aki-chan, it's starting!" I yelled. He glared at me as he flopped down next to Kago; using that nickname didn't flatter him. He handed me the popcorn, and we had just finished singing the intro when...blackout.

"OH HELL NO!" Akira yelled, throwing chips everywhere as he flailed. I sighed.

"Well fuck you too, Karma." I groaned as Kago twitched, growling deep in his throat before rolling over and staring at the cieling.

"If you didn't pay your electricity bill, Kuroi, I swear, I'll-"

"I paid the damn bill!"

'What's with the TV?' Tori asked suddenly. I looked at it. Tori was right, it was emitting a strange red glow, and me, being the idiot I am, I go towards it.
"You sure that's safe?" Kago asked, and I shrugged.

"Safety is kind of a big deal, Kuroi." Akira said, smacking me upside the head. I rolled my eyes, continuing to slowly reach towards it.

"Why are you in slow motion?" Akira asked, and I dropped my hand, sending him an annoyed look.

"Dude."

He held both hands up in form of surrender, and I, building up the suspense again, slowly reached for the screen. As soon as my fingers came into contact with the red stuff, I saw darkness.

'Why the hell would you touch it?' Tori's voice was the last thing I heard.
