Coffee was on the table for both me and Detective Jones as he studied every expression on my face.

"It's going to be alright, Hailey."

"My ass it's going to be alright detective. You're looking for leads, am I right? Well it's been two weeks, two deaths, and a hell of a shock for everyone! Yet there is not one single lead to one suspect." I shook my head, slamming a hand on the mahogany table.

"Crime scenes as puzzling as these can take more than weeks Miss Snow. Maybe even months if it get's even more complicated." He said sternly.

"More complicated? So that's exactly what you're going to do! Wait until it's too late, wait until these killers get another step ahead of us. We're only getting further and further from this case, detective. And I'm willing to take a step in and do something other than just sit on our asses and wait for their next move."

"Are you willing to die for this, Hailey? Because you are writing yourself a death sentence if you get even more involved, I promise you that." He said lowly, narrowing his eyes as he drank from the cup of black coffee.

"I don't care. I said I want this to fucking end. I want answers."

"And maybe if the killer makes another move, we will."

"You have got to be kidding." I laughed dryly, leaning back in my seat.

I've got to be losing my mind by now.

"Do I look like I'm joking the slightest?"

"You don't look the part detective, but you sure as hell sound like it." I leaned forward, intensely staring at him.

He silenced, as I sighed, leaning back in my seat.

"You can leave my house now." I said.

"I warned you, Hailey."

"I'm aware, and wide awake Mr. Jones."

"Are you really? Because if you were, you wouldn't be making the mistake by jumping into this case on your own, kid." He tilted his head at me.

"I'm not a child."

"You don't look the part, Hailey. But you sure as hell sound like it.'' He mimicked me huskily.
