people whisper the truth

this is inspired by unrequited love (a poem in plutonyte's gorgeous book 'epiphanies')

it's also based on the truth, although i'm not in love with the girl i'm talking about in the poem, because she's just my friend and tbh that's all she will ever be.

we run around your house

loud laughter and crooked grins

( yes, i'm the one making you laugh

but why can't i be the one making you blush? )

you tell me about the things you do

once night has fallen and the stars shine on you

( i wish i was the one doing those things to you )

you tell me your parents would disown you if you so much as

uttered a word about being anything other than straight

( that doesn't mean you're straight, though.

fuck, i hope you're not )

you tell me i look beautiful, you fix my hair,

you run your hands over my face, neck,

( you know it turns me on,

i've told you as much )

you tell me you love me with a crooked grin

and a burst of giggles

( everyone thinks we're dating- when i told

them i had a girlfriend, they assumed i was talking about you )

and i know i shouldn't because it will never end well

i shouldn't think about kissing you

( but dear god, i love you. )

( people whisper that it's unrequited love behind my back. )
