i'm in love with this

touch: silk sheets and heavy velvet
and cool water on a hot day and the
cold of a window against your cheek
and the soft of a pillow and the delicate
trace of a finger on a collarbone and the
brush of leaves as you walk past.

taste: liquid honey dripping on your
tongue and the bitter of dark chocolate
and the cream of a hot drink and
the scalding of a melted marshmallow
and cherry chapstick and bubblegum ice cream.

see: rainbows sparkling and the pinkish
of a cloud during sunset and
flowers bursting into bloom and the
caramel the night the pale the tan of skin
curving over bones and muscles and a
little bit of fat and the way rain looks
dripping down a window and the
dappled light through the leaves.

hear: quiet whistles and birdsong
at five am and the patter of rain on a roof
and songs that make you want to cry and
scream but also laugh and smile and
be oh so happy and the break in
someone's voice as they hit a note and
the loud burst of laughter.

smell: honeysuckle and rose gardens
and rosemary and mint and the smell of
someone's skin because they smell like heaven
and heavy chlorine and salt and jasmine perfume
dripping down a neck and the smell of your
best friend's home and someone baking.
