Chapter 43

Lyn was in her room practicing a song with her piano. Neal had left since last week and was supposed to return that day but Ian had offered to pick him from the airport and told her to wait at home, so she decided to kill boredom by just playing the piano.

It had been 4 hours since Neal was supposed to arrive, and Ian had left 30 minutes before Neal's arrival or had they gone somewhere else but there was no call or text and she really wanted to see Neal.

An hour later and they hadn't come. She contemplated on going out to look for them since she knew how to drive now..... Well a little.
Just then she was getting a phone call from an unknown number. She picked up her phone without hesitation

"Hello" she said immediately, she heard Ian's voice on the other line, but whatever he was saying didn't sound good. She dropped the phone immediately before Ian finished talking after she had gotten the necessary information. She grabbed her jacket and keys and rushed to her car. She couldn't think straight, she couldn't believe what Ian had told her. They had gotten into an accident but Neal's case was critical. She didn't even want to hear the rest after she had heard the name of the hospital. Her heart was beating terribly fast and she was scared, really scared.

She got to the hospital and rushed out of her car into the hospital building, she was going to ask an approaching nurse but then she saw Ian instead. He had bruises and cuts on his face, he even had a cast on his arm

"OMG! What happened" she hugged him tightly "where's Neal"

"Lyn calm down" Ian told her

"I can't calm down, my boyfriend got into a freaking accident"

"I know Lyn, Neal's in surgery right now. He hit his head hard against the dashboard"

"OMG!" Lyn buried her face in Ian's shoulder

"He'll be fine don't worry"

"What of you? Are you okay?" Lyn asked with concern

"Except for this arm I'm pretty cool"

"You sure?"

"Perfect" Ian grinned "Come on let's wait till his surgery is over, mum would be here soon"

"It's okay, Neal's gonna be fine" Ian assured Lyn while they waited for the doctor because Lyn was fidgeting the whole time

"What if something bad happens, head injuries aren't nice at all"

"He's going to be fine" Ian forced a smile and Lyn buried her face in her hands trying to fight the tears that were threatening to fall.
Just then the doctor came in and all three of them rushed to meet him

"How's he?" Eleanor asked first

"He's fine, the surgery went well"

"Thank God!" Lyn mouthed first

"But" the doctor started "There might be a few complications due to pressure from the accident which we can identify when he wakes up" the  doctor explained

"What kind of complications?" Lyn asked as she started to get scared again

"There's a possibility of minor amnesia...."

"Amnesia" Lyn gasped

"Memory loss" the doctor explained better "But we aren't sure of anything yet, we can only identify this when he wakes up"

"But when is he going to wake up?" Ian asked

"Soon, you can wait till then" the doctor said and walked away

"You too go home, I'll stay here till he wakes up" Ian said to his mother and Lyn

"No Ian you need to rest" Lyn stopped him

"It's okay, when he wakes up I'll call you" he gave her a look that she couldn't resist

"Are you sure?" Lyn confirmed again and Ian nodded handing her over to Eleanor.
"Don't worry, Neal is going to be fine" he assured her before walking away.

Lyn followed her mother to her house to wait till Ian called, but she couldn't think of anything else except Neal a lot of things roaming through her mind. What if he didn't remember her? What if he didn't remember anything at all? A lot of what if questions coming through her mind that had no answer to.

"Eat something" Eleanor said interrupting her thoughts

"I'm not hungry" Lyn refused with a sad expression "I can't eat anything now, I can't even think straight"

Eleanor pulled Lyn into her arms, stroking her hair "I know exactly how you feel, its absolutely normal"

"But I'm so scared" Lyn said close to tears "He was going to write my song for the music contest and now this happened"

Eleanor didn't say anything but just kept hugging Lyn and stroking her hair

"It's gonna be okay, just get some sleep" she put her to bed even though Lyn resisted but sooner she fell asleep.

"Riiiiiing!!!!!!!!" Lyn's phone kept ringing till she woke up with a grunt. She sat up on the bed studying her surrounding trying to remember some things then just then Neal popped in her mind. She picked up her phone that wouldn't stop ringing. She stared at the caller ID it was Ian calling. She picked up without hesitation

"Ian how's Neal?" She said immediately

"He's awake but......" Ian paused

"But what?"

"He can't remember you........
