Later that evening, the Doctor came into the workshop on the TARDIS to find her cross-legged, barefoot on the floor, surrounded by textbooks and blueprints. In her lap was a tray covered in a selection of metal components, as well as several tools.

"What on Earth are you doing?" the Doctor asked, leaning in the doorway.

She looked up, lifting the welding mask she was wearing. "I'm making myself a new phone, since somebody gave away my old one."

The Doctor frowned. "Right... And you're making it because...? I mean, we could just go shopping?"

"No, it's good practice," she explained, shaking her head. "I, er..." She sighed. "This is going to sound crazy, but... I think I want to learn alien mechanics. Like, really learn it. Like, master it."

"That's great," the Doctor grinned, coming to sit next to her amidst all the literature. "You'll love it."

She beamed. "I hope so. Then we'll make the perfect team. I'm mechanics, you're medicine, right?"

The Doctor smiled, high-fiving her. "The perfect team."
