Twenty-Five.

It had been a few weeks since we've moved in. We decided to move in right before Christmas, and I loved it. I couldn't ask for a better boyfriend.

My dad and Ashley came for Christmas, but left a few days after.

It was now New Years eve, and Liam and I were celebrating it together.

We watched the countdown on TV.

60... 59... 58...

"Brooke I need to ask you something."

"Shoot," I responded.

50... 49... 48...

"Um, well, I-I," he was stuttering.

"C'mon, Liam. Just say it."

40... 39... 38...

He started to get down on one knee.

"Oh my god," I whispered, my eyes filling up with tears.

30... 29... 28...

"Brooke Nicole Moore..." he started.

I covered my mouth.

20...19...18...

"Will you marry me?"

"Yes!" I screamed out, hugging and kissing him like never before.

10... 9... 8...

He slipped the ring on my finger; it was a perfect fit.

3... 2... 1...

I stood up and kissed him right then.

"Happy New Year, Brooke Carter," he said.

I pressed my forehead up against his, smiling.

"I love you," I said, tears still on my face.

I cuddled on the couch with Liam, admiring my ring.

I couldn't stop smiling.

In that moment, I remembered what my great grandmother had once told me.

She once told me, "Find you a man that will protect you. One that will always stay by your side, through thick and thin. Once you find him, never let him go."

I looked up at the ceiling.

"Well," I whispered. "I found him."

I gazed into Liam's eyes.

"Never let me go," I said.

"I'd never."
