"You look beautiful," I breathed, once Katherine opened the door.
"You don't look too bad yourself," she smiled.
"Ready?" I asked.
She nodded.
I hold my hand out to her and she places her hand in mine.
"Relax, Red," I said. "They will love you," I said, giving her hand a comforting squeeze.
"How long has Jack been working for you?" She asked, suddenly.
"Five years now," I said.
"Where does he go when you ask him to step back?"
"On stand by, outside wherever I am."
"So... Yesterday..."
I nodded understanding my question.
"Does he not sleep?"
"He sleeps," I simply said.
"He seems... Scary. He has this look..." She whispered quietly, that I had to pause for a second to think if I heard her correctly. I could tell she was afraid that he might be able hear us.
He probably can. He's got a pair of bionic ears.
"What look?"
"Like he's constipated."
I burst out laughing.
She buried her face in my chest, as she shook with laughter.
"I can't believe you said that," I said, still laughing.
"Well at least it got my mind off of meeting your family," she mumbled.
"That it did," I agreed.
I was still laughing.
The car stopped.
A few moments later her door opened.
Jack was standing there, holding the door, his ears red.
He heard.
I clenched my jaw to stop myself from laughing.
I have to admit, he does look constipated all the damn time.
"He heard, didn't he?" Katherine whispered to me, as we walked up the steps my parents' home.
I nodded while chuckling.
She groaned. "Oh god..."
"It's okay," I squeezed her to my side.
"Me and my big mouth." She grumbled.
"You mean, your delectable mouth," I said.
She scowled at me, then giggled.
I grinned. "Ready?" I asked.
"No," she swallowed visibly.
