iwaizumi wasn't home the next day.

oikawa the day coped up in his room, trying to stay calm, but his mind would wander around and slowly descend in to paranoia as hard as he tried to avoid it.

his iwa-chan, his beloved best friend, wasn't there to steal his attention either. well, somehow he had his full attention, but having to help iwaizumi with a nosebleed would've occupied his thoughts for a bit.

he anxiously chewed the end of his pencil, realizing that after five minutes it had become completely mutilated. defeated, he tossed it in to the waste bin — he didn't need people on his back for chewing his belongings.

"tooru?" he heard his mother call. "time for dinner!"

oikawa didn't answer. he rested his head in his crossed arms and sighed deeply.

he heard footsteps come up the stairs, and closed his eyes.

his door creaked open slowly. he supposed it was his mother.

"tooru, what's wrong? didn't you hear me?" she asked.

"i'm not hungry," he mumbled. his mother sighed.

"is this about iwaizumi-kun?" tooru nodded slowly. his mother walked over and crouched down next to his desk.

"hajime's going to be fine, tooru," she said firmly. "he's strong, remember?"

"but he's always so tired," oikawa whispered. "he can't be strong for long."

"of course he can," she smiled. "maybe not here..." she poked oikawa's arm softly, "but up here." he placed her finger on oikawa's forehead.

"his hair is pretty gelled up," he laughed softly. "feels like a rock."

"and what does iwa mean?"

"rock," oikawa said admittedly.

"exactly. he's strong like a rock. now, let's go get dinner." oikawa nodded with a shy smile as he stood up.

iwaizumi was like a rock in the sun. rocks didn't move, but they were still strong.

iwa could be strong.
