"good evening," saeko smirked as she walked into the hospital room. it was late in to their first year of high school, and iwaizumi was slowly starting to believe he wasn't ever going to be released. "good news: you'll be attending the last weeks of school."

"seriously?" oikawa exclaimed. iwaizumi perked up immediately.

"yup! took some convincing, but i managed to get the doc to agree. half days only, straight to bed after. you're allowed to do homework for fifteen minutes at a time only. but, nevertheless, you can still keep up for next year."

oikawa hugged iwaizumi, who had tears in his eyes. "thank god," oikawa whispered.

"am i... getting better?" iwaizumi asked hopefully, looking up at her.

"it's going better, kid. the chemo's really kicking in. when you come back they wanna start radiation, and possibly do a bone marrow transplant so we can get rid of this whole thing asap."

iwaizumi cried softly, oikawa hugging him tightly.

"thank you," he whispered. neither saeko nor oikawa knew who he was talking to, but it didn't really matter.

iwaizumi was slowly getting better.
