44. Awkward Aftermath

Things didn't just return to normal like the last few times we had almost kissed. This time had been different.

After we had discovered the source of the screaming, we were left with the awkward memory to deal with.

Apparently someone, my money was on Dex and Willow, had come up with the ingenious plan to put green hair dye into Sutton's shampoo and conditioner. When she got out of the shower and saw the puke green shade of her hair, she screamed the whole house down.

Will and I both jumped away from each other, but he refused to leave me alone on the roof. It touched me to know that my safety was what was most important to him.

We walked silently down the hallway after we had found out why we had been interrupted. Will was the first one to talk, because I was too much of a coward.

"I'm sorry. I just got caught up in the moment," he said quietly.

"Oh!" I said dramatically, as if I hadn't been thinking about the near kiss, even though it was the only thing on my mind. "Yeah, me too I guess. We should just forget about it."

"Sure," he smiled weakly, opening the door to our room.

We barely spoke after that because we both knew things weren't normal. He may have just been caught up in the moment, but I had been caught up in the moment since I met him.

Despite the fact we were barely speaking, Will still slept in the bed with me because despite how awkward it was, we both knew we'd sleep better next to each other.

When I woke up Will was gone, so I checked my phone to see what time it was and it was already nine. I had actually slept till a decent hour, that rarely happened!

I could hear people downstairs so I dragged myself out of bed and headed towards the noise. I was relieved to see that it was only Emma, Dex, Valentina and Willow awake, but Will was nowhere in sight.

"Have you guys seen Will?" I yawned, grabbing a cup of coffee off of the counter, not really caring who's it was.

"First of all, that's mine, secondly, he went for a run or something," Dex snatched the coffee out of my hand and stuck his tongue out at me.

"He left at like seven, he is not right in the head," Willow grimaced before I snatched the coffee back from Dex and glared at him.

"So you were sleeping down here last night? We wondered where you were," Valentina looked up from the pan she was cooking in.

"Uh yeah, a few of us just fell asleep down here," she said, somewhat awkwardly. I had no idea she would get on so well with everybody.

Everyone's heads shot towards the door as Will walked in, panting and covered in sweat. I felt myself blush when he looked at me and I instantly had to look away.

"You were running for two hours?" Emma looked at him, dumbfounded.

"Yeah, I uh- I needed a good work out," he walked over and grabbed Dex's cup of coffee out of my hand. Well, at least I was still worthy enough for him to steal my coffee - even if it wasn't actually my coffee, but still.

"You need to step out of my kitchen Mr. I do not need you perspiring over all of my wonderful cooking. Out! Adíos!" Valentina swatted at him with a spatula.
