He had fucked up.

In typical Damon fashion, he managed to pissed off his brother, his brothers girlfriend, and the girl he was in love with. All in a matter of seconds.

New record.

Elena was willing to bet her life on a magical elixir, one Damon didn't trust, and he couldn't have that. So, he forced fed her his blood; that way he knew she'd be back. Was it wrong of him to do it? Of course, but he was use to being the bad guy. The fact of the matter is, he couldn't let her die. Damon had let Stefan Dow enough, and he promised to help keep her safe - which meant alive- so he was going to do that. Besides he'd also come to feel something for the girl.

No.
Not romantic feelings, but something. A feeling many would recognize as caring for someone, but Damon wouldn't be caught dead admitting that about anyone else but Evangeline. He barely wanted to admit it about Stefan, and that was his brother.

Speaking of Evangeline......she was currently pissed at him for two reason.

The first, because he had taken away Elena's choice. The main because she felt as if he harbored romantic feelings for her. Evangeline refused to be played, and after shoving a chair leg dangerously close to his heart she left him before giving him a chance to explain.

Needless to say, Damon was having one shitty day. Approaching the bar, he flagged down a bartender and ordered a drink, Alaric joining him requesting the same beverage.

"I screwed up," Damon confessed after taking a long swig.
"Yeah." Alaric agreed. "Yeah, you did."

Before their conversation could go on, a third party joined them. Someone they didn't recognize.

"Gentlemen? Why so glum?" The two looked at him, Damon being the first to put all the pieces together.
"Ugh. Klaus, I presume."

"In the flesh," he taunted, looking at Alaric. "Thanks for the loaner, mate."
"Any reason you stopped by to say hi?" Damons voice filled with fake interest.
"I'm told you and your brother fancies my doppelganger. Just thought I'd remind you to not do anything you'll regret." Though he smiled, Klaus was indeed serious.

"Ha. Thanks for your advice." Damon smiled sarcastically. "I don't suppose I could talk you into a postponement, by any chance, huh?"
"You are kidding." Klaus looked at Ric for confirmation. "He is kidding, right?"
"No, not really."
"I mean, come on, what's one month in the whole grand scheme of things?"

The mood changed and Klaus' face darkened and he got up in Damon's face.

"Let me be clear... I have my vampire. I have my werewolf. I have everything I need. The ritual will happen tonight. So if you want to live to see tomorrow, don't screw it up."

Pushing past him, Klaus exited the Grill leaving Damon and Ric alone.

"That was fun." Damon took another shot.

There was a brief pause as Ric carefully examined Damons side profile.

"You're getting screwed up, aren't you?" Accused the hunter.
"Of course he's going to screw this up. It's what he does best."

Looking up quickly, Damon couldn't help but feel hopeful as his eyes fell on Evie. Her being here meant she was no longer angry with him....right?

"You think if I took his werewolf out of the equation, Elena might... Get over the fact that I tried to turn her into a vampire?." Damon asked her.
"I think it won't matter, because you'll be dead." Evangeline answered moving in front of him.
"But without the werewolf, he can't perform the ritual tonight, which means I would have bought her one month before the next full moon." He tried to reason. This time it was Alaric who commented.
"But you'll still be dead."

With a nod toward Evangeline, Damon grinned. "she won't let me die."
"Wouldn't be so sure about that, mate. "She tisked arms crossed over her chest.
"Mate?" I could've sworn we did that already. "Once on the bed. In the shower-"
"Damon!"
"-on the kitchen counter-ouch!" He rubbed his arm where the original had just punch.
"Shut your filthy mouth before I shut it for you-"

He kissed her; an action she was becoming far too addicted to, way too quickly.

He placed a chaste kiss on her neck. She couldn't help but relax against him.

"I thought we discussed forever this morning." He mumbled going back to her comment about possibly letting him die.
"How the bloody hell are we going to have forever if you insist on doing things to get you killed?!" Evangeline hissed pushing away from him.
"Or worse; expelled." Damon leaned it wagging his eyebrows.
"Did- did you just quote Harry Potter at me?" She blinked perplexed before. Shoving him back. "Damon, i swear-"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He laughed lightly pulling her close again.

Evangeline huffed. She was struggling with all of this; these feelings. Love. Insecurity. Worrying. The insecurity was the biggest issue for her. She saw first hand what the doppelgänger had done to her brothers, she didn't want to be a causality in the middle of war if Damon had feelings for Elena just like Stefan. Her heart couldn't bare it.

"Do you- do you like Elena?" She finally blurred out. "I just want to be sure I'm not-"

Hands gently placed on the sides of her face her pulled her in once more connecting their lips. This kiss was different from the one they shared moments ago. Her eyes closed fearlessly, but instead of seeing darkness, it instead created colors of peace. The soft touch of his hands sliding down her waist pulling her closer sent a strong feeling of warmth spiraling through her system. Her arms reach up and tangle around his neck as the kiss was deepened, something like magic that igniting between the two. Finally, they pulled apart and Damon kept her chin tilted upward maintaining eye contact with her.

"Forever, okay? I don't want anyone but you." He assured. "This is for Stefan."

For his family, Evangeline thought. If anyone understand the importance of family and how one would go to any lengths to protect them and see them happy it was her. She was a Mikaelson after all. Finally she nodded, giving him a smile that showed she understood and he couldn't help but smile back.

"Eh hem," Alaric finally cleared his throat interrupting. "Yeah. Hi. Glad you two could join us."

The couple rolled their eyes playfully the smiles still on their faces.

"I mean sucking face in public. Having a love fest like we're not on a count down to anyone's death or anything-"
"Oh shut up," Damon scoffed. "Are you gonna help me or what?"

With a sign, Alaric finished off his glass, slamming it on the table.

"What do you want me to do?"
