Chapter 26

*beep beep beep*

Maya

I open my eyes and realize I am in the hospital.

Phew. It was just a hallucination or a dream.

I lift up my head but no one is in the room with me. Just me and my thoughts.

Sometimes silence is dangerous.

The door opens but it's not one of my friends instead it's Michael and a nurse. They both gasp when they see me awake.

"Maya!" He runs over to my bed. "You finally woke up! Oh my god." He starts to cry. "You've been out for months." He says through sobs.

Months?

What the hell is he talking about?

"W-what?" I ask. "Sweetie, a couple months ago you were hurt very badly by your father. And you went into a coma." The nurse says through a thick Spanish accent.

No.

She's lying.

This must be a hallucination too.

There's no way.

"You're lying." I say gritting my teeth holding back tears. "Honey, I would never lie-" I interrupt her. "NO! NO YOUR LYING. IT WASN'T A DREAM I WASN'T IN A COMA." I sob- hard.

So she's telling me that everything was fake.

I never met Riley.

Smakle.

Zay.

Farkle.

Vanessa.

Sunhi.

Emma.

Carla.

Renee.

Heck even Lucas.

They have no idea I exist. Let alone they might not even exist. It was all my imagination? I can't believe that.

I sit in my bed and sob.
