"Mark!" I shouted as his fist collided with James' face. The fury Mr Harris was showing was not like anything I have witnessed. I tried again, unsuccessfully, to get his attention again.

"Mark, stop it! You'll lose your job!" At that, Mr Harris freezes in his tracks. He slowly lowered his fist before running his hand over his face.

"You're right but he deserved it." He whined like a little boy. It was hard not to smile at his face as he looked at me childlike, but it was difficult to ignore his red fist and James' eye that would soon have a blue ring around it.

"You just punched me. A teacher just punched me." James slowly came to a realisation.

"James, please, forget what happened." I pleaded. He raised his eyebrow at me.

"Forget what happened? How am I supposed to do that?"

"Fine, don't forget but remember you blackmailed Mr Harris. How is that going to look for you?"

"It's going to look a lot better than a teacher punching a student."

"It's your word against ours. Who are they going to believe?"

"They'll ask why you were here. I've got an excuse as the next door neighbour but you? You have no connection to him other than school." He was right, I hated that he was right.

"I'll figure something out just leave," I warned him. He smirked like he knew he won the battle. But hey, it was only the battle not the war. James turned and walked out stopping quickly to check his face in the mirror.

"What the hell did you just do?" I exclaimed.

"I don't know, it just came over me." He shrugged. How was he so calm about this?

"How are you calm? You just punched a student!"

"I am freaking out trust me, but I'm dating my student how worse can my situation get?" He ran his hand over his face.

"True, but still maybe a little emotion would help."

"A little emotion? I punched the kid!"

"You know what I can't deal with this." I said, throwing my hands up. I started to walk out. It started to look like a break up if I can call it that. Mark was sighing and muttering behind me.

"This is not the end if you're thinking that! I'm picking you up at 2 for my cousin's wedding." He was so stubborn.

~~~~~~
He knocked on the door and I ran downstairs, putting my earring in at the same time. I opened the door to Mark in a suit.
"Scarlett!" Mark suddenly shouted.
"Hmm, what?"
"I've been trying to talk to you." He smirked. He was looking at me like he knew I was too distracted by the way he looked in a suit. "You look beautiful. You ready?"
"Yeah, just give me a minute." I said, before going to collect my clutch.
A few minutes later I found it, hearing a high pitched laugh I followed it to the front door. Oh no, what is she doing? I wanted to mentally face palm at the sight of my mom at the front door talking to Mark. Shit, she has a camera in her hand, what is this prom?
"Oh there you are Scarlett." My mom said turning to me. "Pictures!" She sang waving the camera. I rolled my eyes while Mark chuckled. We awkwardly stood there as my mom tried to find the best lighting.
"Okay, we need to go." We finally made our escape, to his car.
"Oh thank god." I said, slumping down in the passenger seat. "I'm sorry about her." He laughed.
"It's fine, I thought it was cute." I raised my eyebrow at him.
"Really?"
"Definitely, though we should have done that typical prom pose with my arms around your waist."
"And awkwardly smile, yeah no thanks."
"Your loss." He chuckled. We finally arrived at the garden where the wedding was taking place. Mark opened my door and took my hand as we rushed to take our seats.
The vows were beautiful. All about finding love when you least expect it. I could feel Mark's eyes occasionally on me through out the ceremony. Everything will be okay I know it. Mark squeezed my hand as the groom talked about loving someone like they've never loved someone before and how unexpected it was.
"I love you." He whispered.
"Mark!" His cousin exclaimed, opening her arms to hug him.
"Susanne, congratulations." She thanked him and turned to face me expectantly. "So this is your plus one?"
"Yeah, Susanne meet Scarlett."
"Nice to meet you."
"You too and congratulations."
"Thanks. How old are you?" She asked, her arms crossed. She doesn't like me.
"22." I replied, I couldn't say I was 17.
"Really? 22 year olds still go to high school?" What? I turned to look at Mark who was equally as shocked as me.
"Yeah I know about your 'situation'. Unlike everyone else that seems to know, I don't agree with it. Mark you should know better, getting involved with a student, really? What were you thinking?"
"I wasn't." She scoffed.
"Clearly."
"Just go Susanne, your husband is waiting." She rolled her eyes before walking away.
"And now you can tell why she's my favourite cousin." I gave a small giggle.
Susanne and her new husband started their first dance. They looked so in love.
"Do you think that could be us one day?" I asked Mark. He looked startled for a few seconds before recovering.
"Sorry, that's too weird isn't it?"
"No it's not. I was just startled because I can. I can imagine that being us one day, for the first time with a girl, I wouldn't mind it. But that's getting ahead of ourselves, we've only been dating for a few months or so."
"I know, I was just asking."
"Come on, let's dance." Mark said, leading me to the dance floor. 'Enchanted' by Taylor Swift started to play. With his arms around me, I knew that whatever happened with James, we'd try to overcome it, but who knew what life would throw at us next.
