Chapter 47: Uninvited Guests

My certainty about Zywon coming was accurate. In fact, he was earlier than I thought. Nakaubos na siya ng isang hot chocolate nang makarating ako doon. There were also empty packs of kitkat on his saucer. What? Does this guy have a sweet tooth?

He didn't bother to smile when I reached his spot. He just licked his fingers after eating the last bite of his chocolate.

"Yo Just Amber, my time is precious so spill everything."

Iniwasan kong bigyan siya ng masamang tingin. Agad kong kinuha sa bag ko ang inilagay ko doong invitation at inilapag iyon sa harapan niya matapos maupo.

"I'll be expecting you", wika ko sa kanya. He froze from licking his finger for a moment before he reached for the table napkin and wiped his hands. Pinulot niya ang invitation at binasa iyon.

"Ah. You will be reigned as queen", he said with a smirk. "This is a nice mean of executing my plan. I can have my revenge by bombing this event. With that I can eliminate the Vander Mafia, what do you think Just Amber?"

I rolled my eyes at him. I don't know if he is serious or not. I don't really know but I believe he won't do something stupid like that. Hindi lahat ng dadalo ay bahagi ng mafia. Kahit gaano pa kalaki ang galit niya sa mafia, hindi siya aabot sa point na mandadamay ng mga inosente. He knows the feeling of losing someone kaya marahil ay hindi niya iyon gagawin sa iba.

"I will be expecting you", wika ko ulit sa kanya. He paused for a while and he tossed back the invitation towards me.

"I'm not interested", sagot niya sa akin. "Bakit naman ako dadalo sa isang pagtitipon ng pangalang kinamumuhian ko? Ayos ka din ano?"

I was expecting such reaction from him. Bakit ko nga ba siya iimbitahan? To mentally torture him for seeing the clan that can stir up his anger? Kung nagiging stiff na nga ang anyo nito kapag nakikita si Gray, ano pa kaya kung ang buong angkan na? Bakit nga ba? Maybe because he was the one who opened this light in me. Siya ang dahilan kung bakit nakilala ko ang tunay kong katauhan. If it wasn't for him, I would still be living a false life.

Muli kong inilagay ang imbitasyon sa harapan niya. "Please take that kung sakaling magbago man ang isip mo."

My phone rang at nang tingnan ko iyon ay rumehistro ang pangalan ni Ryu doon. I made a frown bago ko sinagot ang tawag.

"He-"

"Didn't I tell you to stay in your room? Where are you?!", Ryu asked from the other line. I can imagine his furious image when he discovered that I was not in the room.

Pero ayan na naman siya sa tono niya! He's talking to me like a boss and I hate it! I hate to be ordered around!

"I'm in a place where there is no devil like you", sagot ko sa kanya. Nakamasid lamang si Zywon sa akin and his face is blank.

"Ryle-"

"Bye Ryu!" Agad ko ng pinatay ang tawag and tossed back the phone inside my bag.

"Protective brother eh?", Komento niya. I just shrugged my shoulders at him. Ayokong pag-usapan ang "new-found family" ko na kinamumuhian niya. It's better this way, na alam na niyang isa akong Vander.

"So what are you planning to do now? Join your family in your business?", he said giving emphasis on the word business. Kahit kailan ay hindi pumasok sa isip ko na isa pala akong anak ng taga-mafia and I have never imagined myself involving into mafia matters. Maybe I will abstain in providing my service as a Vander just like Gray. Siguro naman ay maiintindihan iyon ni Mommy. And speaking of her, nakausap ko siya sa telepono kanina. She said that her hypnotic sessions and other medications were doing well. Unti-unti ng bumabalik ang kanyang mga alaala just like a jigsaw puzzle. Ayon daw sa doctor, hindi panghabang buhay ang kanyang amnesia. It's just that she refused to remember those things dahil naging maligaya na siya sa bagong buhay niya dati. Good thing that she's now bringing back most of her memories.
