-Chapter 7-

*Mitch's POV

Blackness. That's all I saw, all I felt, all I sensed. Blackness was everything right now. Well, that is until I heard some voices talking. I couldn't make out what they were saying, but I felt something get poured on me, making my skin tingle. For a second, I thought I saw the light of a torch, but it quickly vapored into blackness.

What felt like forever passed until I heard another voice. "Please wake up soon." They whispered. I recognized the voice as Jerome.

'I will dood.' I promised in my head. 'Soon.'

The next thing I saw was a torch. It was flickering, casting light across the ceiling. I sat up, expecting pain to flood my body. When nothing happened, I immediately knew what the liquid poured on me was. It was a healing potion.

I slowly stood up and walked to the door. I heard talking, but it only sounded like one person was there. I felt light-headed and knew I had to sit down. I layed back on the bed and closed my eyes for a second. Well, a second turned to 15 minutes before I knew it.

I woke up again and heard another voice downstairs. Someone walked into my room. That someone was Rheanna. "Mitch!! Your awake!!" She looked like she'd been crying. She ran to me and hugged me. Sierra then looked in the room before running off. Rheanna started mumbling something, but I couldn't make out what she was saying.

Sierra ran back into the room, accompanied by Jerome. "Mitch!!" Jerome shouted before pulling me into a hug. He started crying. "I-I missed you."

"How long was I out?" I whispered.

"A few hours. Y-You fell into a slight coma." Rheanna said. Her body was shivering, but it wasn't cold.

"That's not that long." I looked at everyone.

Jerome wiped the tears put of his eyes. "When you could die any second it is."

I sat there, frozen in shock. I could of died. "O-oh..." I let out a shaky breath.

"You didn't though. Look at it that way." Jerome weakly smiled, trying to lighten the mood.

Sierra was slowly inching to the door. "I'm going hunting." She scurried out of the room and closed the door behind her.

I yawned. "I'm tired. I want to take a nap."

Rheanna got up and walked out after telling me to have good dreams.

Jerome started to stand up from the bed, but I grabbed his hand. "P-please stay." I whispered, my face reddening.

Jerome chuckled lightly and told me to scoot over. I did so and he laid next to me. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into his fluffy chest. His body heat surrounded me, instantly calming me and I sighed. I listened as his quiet, rhythmic heartbeat collided with his deep, steady breathing to form a relaxing melody. I felt him plant a soft, short kiss on my head. I almost instantly fell asleep, surrounded in my peace, love, and happiness; also known as my Bacca.

*Jerome's POV

I started to stand up to let Mitch sleep, but he grabbed my hand which slightly surprised me. "P-please stay." I heard him whisper. His cheeks shaded to pink as a blush noticeably spread.

I laughed a little. "Scoot over." I told Mitch. He let go of my hand and moved over. I laid on the bed, sliding under the covers. I pulled Mitch into me, wrapping my arms around him. He snuggled his head into my chest and sighed. I listened as his breathing slowed and felt as his muscles relaxed. I silently breathed in and the indescribable scent of Mitch flooded my nose. Mitch's breathing became very slow as a sign he's asleep. His arms were hugging me tightly and his head was pressed against my chest.

While thinking, unwanted memories snuck back into my thoughts. Memories of Mitch being beaten by the guard, Mitch looking so broken, Mitch almost dying: all the terrible memories arose from the back of my mind. All the thoughts made a number of tears escape my eyes. One thought made me cry most of all: Mitch almost died today. Mitch-the love of my life, my other half, my happiness- almost died today. If he died, I dont know how I'd live.

I pushed the thoughts away and busied my mind with good thoughts. My thoughts began to dissolve as my mind pushed itself towards dreamland. I gave in and closed my eyes. I fell into a light sleep, my perfect Benja wrapped in my arms.
