Chapter 18

Chris Pov

Another day goes by
And she's still sound asleep

Ethan and Jakob went back to Sydney a few days ago to play at our show

But I stayed

The fans are a bit upset at me that I didn't make it to the show
But that's not what's important at the moment
What's important right now is Mez, and making sure that I'm here when she wakes up

If. She. Wakes. Up.

I'm not leaving her again
She means too much to me

I've been sitting in the same hospital chair for days now and I haven't gotten any sleep

I just can't help but think that it's all my fault, that I just let this happen to her

We had been talking a lot before she was put into hospital, and it breaks my heart knowing that she may not ever wake up

I get up from my very uncomfortable chair and walk towards Mez' bed, sitting up beside her

She's just laying there, ever so quietly

She's got tubes going through her in all different directions,
the doctors have put her on some medication,
Her monitor is still beeping and she's still got a pulse, thankfully

She's looks so broken, so powerless

I get closer to her,
Thinking about what I'm about to say

I grab her delicate hand

"Mez it's Chris, whether or not you can hear me right now I want to tell you something " I begin, taking a deep breath. "I love you, ever since I laid eyes on you, I've deeply fallen
In love, I can't bare not having you in my life, it's not time for you leave this earth yet Okay? I need you here with me, your family needs you to be happy, whatever you're going through we can get through it together, I love you Mez, I really do, just please wake up bub. Please" a tear falls down my cheek and lands on Mez' soft, gentle arm

She's just lying there, not saying a word

I lye right beside her and wrap my arms around her waist gently

I get closer to her and start to quietly sing into her ear

Wake up,

Why won't you just wake up, and tell me that you're fine?

And with you life in my arms
I couldn't start the light

More tears rolling down my face an I begin to sob

I wrap my arms around her an hug her, not too tightly though so I don't hurt hurt

"Please wake up Mez, I love you" I whisper into her ear

I lye there in silence for a few minutes, not saying anything

Before I knew it my eyes start to close

The sound of the machine monitoring Mez' heartbeat had almost become soothing in my ears as I lay there next to her limp, unmoving body

I've gotten use to the periodic beeps that signal her heart

My eyes are slowly closing when I feel something move

Our hands are intertwined together

I sit up and look at them

I feel her hand slowly starting to twitch into mine

I am startled when the monitor goes wild, producing obnoxious, loud noises of abrupt difference

"Mez?" I stutter, nearly falling off the bed in my attempt to stand.
Her eyes wide open — she looks up at me through lowered lashes

"W-where am I?" She says in a raspy voice - yet another sign of her unused voice box

"You're in the hospital. I'm sorry- I'm so sorry. I love you, I love you so much" I choke back a sob, my heart broken and strangled as I rush to get the words out

It's only when I see her throat sob as she swallows,

Her eyes dull and unreadable
Her expression filled with no emotion whatsoever.

"I-" she refuses to look at me

"I'm sorry" she breathes

I shake my head, tears draining down my eyes

"It isn't your fault, this wasn't your fault..."
She cuts me off

"No. Not about that"

she continues

"I'm sorry... but I have no idea who you are"

Bum bum bummmmm!!!!' 😭😭
