Mackenzie
2 days left

"Josh I'm not gonna sit by you at lunch if your gonna get us detention" I mumble climbing into his car an hour after school is out.

"Lighten up Kenzie not like you had any plans anyways"

"That's true but I hate school why would I want to sit there one more hour then I absolutely have too."

"Because you love me."

"What!? I do not," I reply.

"Whatever you have to tell yourself" josh is trying to act cool but his expression totally gave it away I totally offended him

"I'm just kidding sorry" I reply

He just shrugs and continues driving in silence. I have noticed it is very easy to hurt this guys feelings he is offended by everything

After what feels like forever and a half josh pulls up to my house and unlocks the car door "bye Mackenzie," he says as I grab my backpack and open the door

"Oh so your not even going to call me Kenzie, you never call me Mackenzie"

Josh again just shrugs and doesn't say anything

I bite my lower lip and get out of the car

"Bye," I say shutting the car door and walking up to my house. I turn around in front of my door to see josh driving away and wave at him, he doesn't even wave back.

I open the mailbox and pull out the spare key since mom isn't home yet and unlock the door. I take off my shoes and throw my bag down in front of the door and walk over to the tv.

I don't even get to sit there 5 seconds before someone knocks on the door rolling my eyes I pause the tv and go answer the door.

Standing In front of my door is the person I least want to see and also the person I would least expect to see.

Brynn rumfallo.

"Brynn I told you not to come back here, why are you here"

"You still owe me 3 dollars"

"What?"

"Yeah you owe me three dollars from that time I bought you nachos I want my three dollars"

"Umm ok wait here"

I shut the door and run upstairs to grab three dollars out of my wallet and come back down and hand it to Brynn

"Bye" I say shutting the door in her face.

About 30 minutes later as I'm watching tv I hear two people talking outside. I pause legally blonde again and peak out the window

Outside it appears Maddie is arguing with Brynn. That must mean Brynn sat here and waited or left and came back either way it's creepy.

I open the front door and step onto the porch

"Do we have a problem?" I ask Brynn

"Nope." Brynn replies staring into my soul

"Yeah we do" maddie argues

"This toothpick won't leave our house" maddie continues

Brynn just blinks her eyes now shifting back and forth between me and maddie

"Ok Brynn you can leave or I can call the cops im not dealing with this."

Brynn just continues to stare at me

Rolling her eyes and letting out a huff maddie pulls out her phone  and dials 911

After a few moments of silence maddie says into her phone "yea can you please come tell this lady that she can't just stand on my front porch all night" after another few moments of silence maddie says thank you and hangs up

I lean back against the house and maddie pulls out a chair and sits there waiting for the cops to arrive

After about 10 minutes they do, brynns eyes widen at the sight of the cops but she still doesn't give it up she just continues to stand there in silence

"Ok young lady get off this  property"
The cop orders Brynn

Brynn simply ignores him and continues to stand there "im gonna give you 10 seconds and if you don't leave then you can sit in the back of a cop car and not say anything"

Brynn continues to stand there in silence and doesn't say anything

The cop begins to count down

"10"

"9"

"8"

"7"

"6"

"5"

"4"

Brynn shifts her weight to her other leg and rolls her eyes

"3"

"2"

"1"

Then as the cop approaches my porch Brynn hops off and runs out of our yard.

The cop shrugs his shoulders, says goodbye, then hops in his car and drives away.

Maddie and I go inside and I explain to maddie the whole story of why Brynn was even at our house to begin with.

"So that was all over three dollars?" Maddie asks

"Yep" I reply
