They don't think they are beautiful.

Example: "Trust me you are beautiful," my boyfriend told me. I blushed. "Thanks for telling that lie."

WHY THIS IS ANNOYING: No one likes a heroine who bemoans about how hideous and repulsive she is when she's actually gorgeous. Despite her friends and family telling her she's beautiful, she will insist she is ugly. That is, until the Love Interest comes along and she is shocked that he is attracted to her. Suddenly she realizes she is beautiful after all! *eye roll*

HOW TO FIX THIS: Let the character have a good self image. Not everyone in the whole wide world thinks they are ugly. How about instead of them being (thinking) ugly make them have a GBI (good body image).
