My lunch breaks were always the same. I sit by myself at a blue picnic table tucked away in the corner of the school. I sit with a sandwich in one hand and a pen in the other writing whatever comes to mind in my poetry book. Today, I was trying to recreate and edit the poem from detention with Cassidy.

Elliot Flinders, may you be the greatest sailor to travel the high seas

From the Pacific through to thee very Caribbean

May you travel the four corners of the earth til it no longer spins

and finally may you tell of your adventures, of your stories and of the beauty of the world

But Elliot Flinders I may be

A sailor I'm not

A sailor I am

I travel no seas yet I travel far

to the south of these darkest ruins

I have no ship but I shall sail this vessel unto thee

I've seen no corners, only that of a page, a book or a square

Oh how this earth spins but my world does not

In my place I stay while you continue to move

While you continue with your freedom

And if you so ask

I can tell you my adventures

I can tell you my stories

but never can I tell you the beauty of this world

"That's a beautiful poem you have there," whispered a voice from over my shoulder.

I jumped six foot and the voice turned into a laugh.

Cassidy's laugh.

I quickly slammed shut my book which only made her smile even more.

"If you could describe your world in one word what would it be?" asked Cassidy as she took a seat next to me.

I shrugged.

She rolled her eyes.

"Come on Mr.Poet. Just one word, any word" she encouraged, punching my arm.

"Grayscale," I answered after a few moments of silence.

There was a sudden beam of glee from Cassidy as she grabbed my book and began shoving it into my school bag.

I sat there paralyzed as I looked at her in confusion. But she refused to say any words besides 'I have a master plan'.

Her hand shot out and grabbed mine as she lifted the bag onto her shoulder. She pulled me to my feet and was dragging me off to god knows where. I was speechless. What in the world was this girl doing?
