Time (Newt X Reader Book 6)

- Please Tommy, Please! -

I woke up numb. My entire body was numb, I couldn't move my toes or my fingers...my fingers. I tilted my head hoping that losing my arm was a bad  dream. It wasn't.
"No!" I cried.
"Greenie!" Newts voice. I heard shuffling behind me as his face came into view.
"What happened? Where are we?" I asked, I didn't really care I was just happy I could see him.
"Well we're in WICKED again. But it's different." Newt gestured around the room. "More comfortable this time"
I finally looked around slowly moving my neck, the room...the bed.
I was led in a hospital bed, it was comfortable and soft. There was a sofa and a table and a whole mini kitchen too, then at the far end was a double bed that had been slept in.  Newt must've stayed here.
"My arm" I whispered.
"I know greenie, it's OK. Ava said it'll be fine and you'll have therapy and stuff to learn how to do stuff...what's wrong?"
"Uh I need to use the bathroom" I realised feeling uncomfortable.
"OK let me help you up"
Newt gently held me as I stood, I felt useless. I felt stupid and wrong. I didn't need help with these things!
Walking was difficult, I didn't know how long I had been led in that bed but my legs were stiff and refused to move properly. If I was watching this from someone else's eyes I would've laughed and was surprised newt didn't.  He looked more sad than anything. But he kept smiling for my benefit.
We finally reached the bathroom door, Newt opened it for me.
"Uh do you need help with...uh"
I shook my head and closed the door behind me. I checked the trousers I was wearing, luckily they were elasticated and had no buttons or zips. I tried moving my arms, my right arm just hung there, I'd need some extreme therapy for this.

When I finished in the bathroom I kept my left hand on the wall and slowly made it to the door, Newt opened it quickly and smiled.
I was tired again already. I wanted to throw myself out of the window that was next to the medical bed but Newts smile kept me from doing it.
"Can you take me to that bed over there? It looks more more squishy"
"Squishy?" Newt laughed out loud and scooped me up into his arms. My head rested against his chest and his heartbeat filled my ears.

Newt put me down and led on the bed first then beckoned me to lay with him. He didn't have to ask me twice. I moved as quickly as my stiff muscles would let me and put all of my weight on him. He didn't seem to mind.
"I'm so pathetic now"
"Hey! No you're not. I still love you arm or no arm. If I have to carry you everywhere forever then I will do it. I would go to hell and back for you greenie you know that! But I also know you don't like having to depend on people. But you are going to have to deal with it for a while ok? No moaning or whining about me doing things for you! Got it?" Newt kissed my forehead.
I growled but nodded and went back to sleep.

- NEWTS POV -
I couldn't sleep. Though I felt happy watching her sleep. I looked on her bandaged stump and it killed me. That was her good hand, i was glad her left, the one with her makeshift wedding ring sat on was still attached.
I hugged my wife tighter when someone knocked the door. It opened slightly and Thomas and Minho poked their heads in.
I didn't want to move but I did, slowly making sure greenie was comfortable before I walked over to the sofas where Thomas and Minho sat.
"How is she?" Minho looked just as upset as I did.
"Uh she thinks she's pathetic. We have to do something. Surely Ava can make a new arm or something!"
"I don't think it's that simple Newt" Tommy said grimly.
"We have to help her. We have to destroy this damn place and go back to paradise." I replied.
"Agreed" Minho scratched his head. Tommy didn't look that convinced.
"But...Brenda and the baby maybe it would be better if we stayed"
"Please Tommy. Please! We'll get a doctor to come back with us. Maybe one of the others know how to deal with pregnancy."
"Look I'll help you guys leave. But if it comes to it...I'm staying ok? I have a kid to think about now" I felt sorry for Tommy. This was no time for him to be worrying about something as big as as kid. Still i was kind of excited to have a non related nephew.

She began to stir behind us, I knew what they meant. She started screaming and shaking.
"I'll catch up with you later"  I said running back to the bed.

- MINHO POV-
The girl I knew in the maze wasn't there anymore. The girl he knew in the maze wouldn't call herself pathetic. It was going to take more than a kiss from Newt to fix her this time. How much would it take?
How much would Newt have to hurt before she was fixed. Maybe she'll never be fixed.
No. I couldn't think like that.
"I'm going to burn this place to the ground" I growled and stormed down the corridor to find atticus.
