Dedicated to the first ever people who read this story <3

There is probably only one chapter left of the story after this. Sadly, all stories have to end. Maybe that's why I've been postponing writing this chapter because I know that it's about to end and like some other people, I kinda hate endings.

Anyway, here's the chapter!

"Winter, you mean so much to me. I love you so much, my munchkin and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I know that this might be a bit of a surprise again and maybe the timing isn't perfect for you. But hey, I was never one to do things perfectly. I understand that we both have a lot on our shoulders but I think everything will just be better if we work on things together. I promise that I'll always be there for you. You just need to call me. I'll also make sure that no one gives you something with cinnamon in it," he laughed. "I... I love you so much, munchkin. Will you marry me?"

I  just stood there, eyes wide and looking at him. His eyes held pure joy and every second that I was just standing there and staring at him, his happiness faltered.

"I... I..,"I tried to speak but couldn't form any words.

I was still staring at him and his eyes now showed that great nervousness and all I could think of was that dream. Everything that was running through my mind was him getting hurt. That dream stuck to me and no matter how much optimism I willed myself to have, I was still scared.

"Munchkin?" Nate said. "If it's about me being gone the last few days, it was just because I was setting up everything for our company but in a few days I'll be with you all the time again, I promise."

"Nate, I... It's not about that..."

He stood up and looked down to the ground.

"Do you not want to marry me?" he asked, his voice full of hurt.

"I just... Nate, I..," I tried to speak again but tears were already flowing down my cheeks. "Nate, I'm sorry."

He looked straight at me, tears were threatening to spill from his eyes as well.

"You don't want to marry me," he said in realization.

He closed the box that held the beautiful ring and placed it inside his pocket.

"Nate, I'm sorry," I said, trying to hold on to his arm but he moved it away.

"It's alright, munchkin. I was just stupid enough to think that you'd want to marry me. I think I just need some time alone." And with that, he was already  walking away.

I was just crying and walking towards the beautiful teepee that was set up. There was food inside and when I saw the notes that were lying around, I cried even more. There were so many small cards with love notes written on them and by looking at the handwriting, I knew that Nate wrote them himself.

I let the maids fix the area and I just ran up to my room and lay down on the bed. The whole scene was replaying in my mind over and over again. Then, I heard my phone ring. I was tempted to ignore it but I figured that there was a possibility that it was Nate calling. When I picked it up, I saw that it was Alec calling.

"Hello," I answered.

"Hey, what happened? Nate was supposed to call us but he's not answering his cellphone," Alec said.

"I... I don't know where he is," I said.

"Wasn't he supposed to propose to you? Oh crap or did I spoil the surprise?"

"No, he did propose earlier."

"So, then why don't you know where he is? Aren't you two supposed to be inseparable now that you're really engaged?" Alec asked.

"I... I didn't..," my voice faltered.

"You didn't say yes?"  he asked, carefully.

"I just..," I started to explain but I started crying once again.

"Hold  on, we're going there. We'll pick up Cassie along the way. Hang in there," Alec said and hung up the phone.

Alec, Charles, Matthew and Cassie all arrived together, practically running towards my room and asked the gist of what happened. The boys were trying to contact Nate but to no avail. He simply turned off his phone.

"You really have no idea where he could have gone?" Cassie asked the boys.

"Well, if it was me, I'd probably go and drink in a pub alone," Matthew said.

"But then it's useless to search every pub in the vicinity and we don't even know if he'll come back with us right away," Charles said.

All of us were silent for a couple minutes when Alec spoke.

"Why didn't you say yes, in the first place?" he asked me.

"I just... I think that if Nate truly becomes my fiancee, other people would try and put his life in danger. He'll always be out and about because of their family business--always travelling," I explained. "Look, I know it's a probably very stupid of me to think that but the fear will always be there."

* * *

It has been hours since the incident, 1 in the morning, and Nate still hasn't come back. I was just sitting on the stairs near the door, waiting for him. After a few minutes, I heard a car pull by the front and out came Nate. He could barely stand and his bodyguard was trying his hardest to get him to walk towards the door.

"Where did he go?" I asked his bodyguard.

"He went drinking in a pub, Your Highness. I tried to tell him that he's had enough but he just spat on me," he said.

"Oh," I answered. "Can you help me get him to the room?"

"Of course, Your Highness."

We carried Nathaniel to the room and there, I removed his shoes and socks and lay him down on the pillows. He was sleeping soundly and I just sat there beside him.

I was holding his hand when he woke up a bit.

"Nate."

"Munchkin," he said and laughed, I could smell the strong scent of alcohol from his breath. "Munchkin, why didn't you say yes?"

"Nate, let's talk about it tomorrow."

"Are you still mad about what happened years ago? Is that it?" he asked.

"No," I said. "Let's sleep. We really need to sleep now. We'll talk tomorrow, I promise."
