Sometimes I wish I could save you

Holding the bible close to my chest I followed Frank into his house.
I instantly recognised the smell of pizza and beer and I suddenly realised how hungry I was.
Somehow I hadn't found the energy to get up and eat today so it wasn't suprising that my stomache started to growl loudly as Frank pulled me to the living room.

Before we could actually enter, he stopped and blocked the entrance with his body.
"Close your eyes", he demanded.

I frowned
"More suprises?", I asked a scared tone in my voice.

"Just one more, princess", he grinned.
I rolled my eyes at the nickname but decided not to argue and just close my eyes.

Frank took my hands in his and carefully pulled me forward, into the room.
I let him guide me around until my knees hit something soft.
The couch, I assumed.
Frank pushed me forward softly so I was sitting down.

Now I was curious.
"Can I open my eyes again?", I asked kind of nervous.
What was he doing?

"Not yet. Give me a few seconds", he answered.
I sighed and leaned back as I heard Frank shift slightly.
Then I heard the soft klick of a lighter and instantly flinched.
I hope he wasn't burning the house down...

"Okay...", he murmured, "open your eyes"
And I did.

My eyes couldn't quite take in the sight in front of me because they had to get used to the dimly lit room first.
Then I saw what Frank was doing just a few seconds ago.

On the small table in front of me were three big, white, burning candles on a dark violet table cloth that kind of looked like a bedsheet but maybe my eyes were tricking me.
Then I saw the two plates, which probably had had a pattern on it that had already washed off and cracks on one side.
Behind both plates there was a bottle of beer next to a bunch of flowers, that Frank had obviously bought a few days ago.

"F-Frank...", I whispered once my brain was actually able to form words.

"I know it's a totally shitty excuse for a candlelight dinner but... You know... I was bored and I thought... maybe you'd like it...", he said nervously.
And that was almost more suprising than what I saw right in front of me.
I've never seen Frank Iero nervous. Never.

"It's okay if you don't like it. I can just... Put It away again and we can just eat normally.", he quickly said before sitting down next to me.

I shook my head fast.
"T-This...", I still couldn't find the right words to express what I was feeling right now, "this is... amazing! Beautiful I can't... wow"

Amazing didn't even come close to what it actually was to me.
Because even though I knew I shouldn't get my hopes up, this meant more to me than Frank might think.

"You like it?", he asked still anxious about my response.

"I fucking love it", I whispered.

Franks face lit up instantly and all his nervousness disappeared instantly as he jumped up again.
He quickly left the room, leaving me a bit confused before he came back with a big plate in his hands.
I laughed when I saw the slices of pizza he carried to the table.
Looks like my nose hadn't disappoint me.

"I know it's nothing extravagant or something like that...", he murmured as he sat down our food on the table.

"It's perfect", I said and patted the free space on the couch next to me.

Frank sank down and let out a heavy sigh
"I'm not really good at this", he admitted, "what do people do normally during that? What should we talk about?"
