My non-biological father wrenched his grip away from Valentine and stormed toward Kyle, trying to wrest the gun from his son's hands. Kyle's stance was unwavering as he held the weapon defensively behind him, his eyes narrow with defiance.

"Step away, Dad." Kyle growled, his voice edged with anger. His words were clipped, each one a sharp declaration.

My father's face was a mask of frustration. "You don't have to do this. He's part of her." he said, his gaze falling to the ground, a hint of resignation in his voice.

"Part of who? Mother? She wasn't really my mom. Why should I care?" Kyle's voice was a roar of bitterness. "You messed around with a random woman, and I ended up on your doorstep. You can't have children due to an accident, and it's my fault? Why is he special just because he's got her blood?"

Kyle lifted the gun skyward and fired, sending a flock of birds fluttering away from the trees. The deafening crack of the shot was a signal—the great war between werewolves and hunters had officially begun.

But then—

Nothing happened.

Kyle spun around, confusion etched on his face. "Attack now." he ordered, but the hunters remained frozen, their weapons still holstered.

Frustrated, Kyle strode over to one of the hunters, Benjamin, and shoved him hard in the chest. "Go on, I command all of you."

Benjamin staggered back, but his weapon remained in its holster.

"Enough, Kyle." Devon's voice cut through the chaos as he pushed forward. He moved the hunters holding Valentine aside and knelt beside her, casting a quick glance at me.

"Enough? And who are you to speak out of turn?" Kyle snapped, his eyes darting between Devon and the remaining hunters. "Micheal, Leo, stand with me!"

While Kyle's attention was diverted, I slowly edged away, making my way to a pair of jeans hidden near a tree. I watched the unfolding scene with cautious eyes, slipping into the jeans and positioning myself behind the tree.

Michelangelo took a step toward Kyle, but Leonardo's hand stopped him. "Don't." he mouthed, a silent plea for restraint.

Around us, the hunters seemed to adopt a similar tactic, hiding their weapons and equipment with practiced ease.

"Give it up, Kyle." I called out, emerging from my hiding spot.

Kyle's gaze swept over the gathered faces, his sneer turning into a scowl. "All of you are weak!"

"It's over." Devon said firmly, stepping forward.

"Nothing's over until I stop breathing." Kyle snarled, his gaze shifting back to Valentine. He leveled the gun at her head, his eyes wild with rage. The pack, including myself, readied ourselves, canines bared in preparation for the inevitable confrontation.

Just as I was about to make my move, Lilith surged forward, shoving Kyle and sending him sprawling to the ground. But in the chaos, a gunshot rang out.

I raced to Valentine's side, my heart pounding, desperately searching for any signs of injury. My breath caught when I saw she was unharmed, the bullet having missed her entirely. Relief surged through me as I watched her becoming more alert, the wolfsbane's effects waning.

A gasp behind me snapped my attention to Lilith. Her face was a mask of confusion, her eyes darting around as if searching for answers. When she looked down, her white shirt was stained with blood, spreading rapidly.
