My Favorite Part featuring Ariana Grande by Mac Miller

"Uh, Anna?" I groaned, leaving the bathroom where I changed into my so called "Halloween costume."

"Yeah?" she excitedly called from her room, highly anticipating the look she had created for me. And let me just say, it was definitely a look-- and not in a good way.

I hesitantly approached her doorway, seeing her in a tight, metallic-red one-piece body-suit with black boots and her hair left straight and done in a way to make her hair substitute as a headband.

So get this: Anna's idea for our Halloween costume was to be "Britney Spears Over the Years," as she called it. Anna, for some very strange reason, already owned a tight red jumpsuit, and it worked perfectly for her to be Britney Spears in the "Oops! I Did It Again!" music video.

I had to give her props for her good idea, but I wasn't able to because I nearly had a heart attack when she told me she wanted me to be Britney with the snake around her shoulders and a very small amount of clothing. After arguing with her for a solid fifteen minutes, we finally had settled on Britney Spears during the "Hit Me Baby One More Time" music video.

Thus, I ended up wearing a short black skirt, a white button down that was tied up just below my chest, a black lace bralette, a gray cardigan, high black socks, and black heels. My hair was in braids with light pink bows.

"So, I'm basically a slutty school girl?" I asked, curling my lip.

Anna nodded in excitement. "Yes! I love this on you! Thank god I didn't throw out this stupid button-down shirt from ninth grade chorus."

"Ninth grade?" I gasped. "Jesus, no wonder it's so small."

"That's the point."

Was her idea a good one? Yes. Was her idea a good one for someone like me? No.

It was so completely out of my element that I was almost pained to look at myself in the mirror. Never had I been ready to leave the house in such little clothing. And I had nothing against the girls who participated in that, but I just couldn't do it myself. I wasn't comfortable.

"Halloween is an excuse to dress like this, Ken," Anna touched up her bronzer in the mirror, sucking in her cheeks. "Don't be such a massage-ist."

"Massage-ist?" I laughed.

"Yeah, like when you hate women and everything they do because they're a woman," she explained. "You know?"

I touched up my mascara in the mirror beside her, finding it difficult not to laugh at how clueless she could be. But, at least she was on the right track.

"Misogynist," I corrected her.

She rolled her eyes at me, letting me know that she didn't care what the word actually was at all. All she wanted was to have fun, and for me to have fun, too. Rarely did I ever go to any parties with her, so when she found one that I'd agree to go to where I'd also dress in a skimpy costume with her, she was thrilled.

We arrived at the party at around 11 P.M. When I had asked Anna why we had gotten there an hour late, she told me it was because only the weird people came on time. It was one of those stupid high school things, I assumed.

There had to have been at least 40 people there, all minding their own groups. The music was loud and the main lights were off. To compensate, there were dozens of mismatched Halloween and possibly Christmas lights decorating the railings, walls, cupboards, and just about everything else.
