My legs moved up the familiar staircase to Justin's apartment as he followed close behind me. Not much was said between us on the remainder of the car ride, and nothing was said as we walked up the stairs either. There was no reason for it. It was comfortable.

We approached the door, and Justin reached into his pants pocket to get his keys. I watched as he ran his tongue across his bottom lip and put the key in the door, twisting it to allow us in. It was dark.

"Connor isn't coming home again, I guess," Justin declared as he turned the light on and threw his keys down on the island countertop. "I haven't heard from him, so I'm not actually sure."

I slowly nodded, resting my hands on the surface of the counter. "I haven't met him yet. It seems like he's always gone."

"Sometimes it feels like he doesn't even live here," he shrugged, shooting me a smile as he walked towards the refrigerator. "He stays at school a lot. Maybe you'll meet him soon, though." He opened the refrigerator and began rummaging through. "Do you want anything to drink?"

"Water is fine."

He grabbed two water bottles and moved to the side of the counter that was opposite from me, then slid one of them in front of where I was.

"So," he leaned over the surface. "what do you want to do, school skipper?"

I shrugged and twisted open my water. "You know more about this shit than I do. What do you usually do when you skip?"

"Nothing really. I usually go out or stay in and smoke or something."

I sipped my water. "Let's do that."

"What?"

"One of those things," I stated matter of factly. I looked down at my phone to read the time. "It's only quarter after nine, there's still time for something."

Justin's eyes widened, appearing shocked by my sudden suggestions. Truthfully, I was up for either if it meant I was going with Justin.

"You've been throwing me for a loop lately," he chuckled, resting his chin in the palm of his hand. His chocolate eyes bored into mine. "I mean, we're going to that party Friday. Do you feel like staying in?"

I shrugged. "We could. I just think we should do something fun since I don't usually. I feel like you do a lot of fun stuff."

"Not really," he responded. "I mean, it's not super fun to me anymore. Maybe it was at one time, you know, when it was all new. Now it's just kind of routine."

"Fair enough," I nodded. "But you've never done any of those fun things with me."

He twisted his lips to the side, showing me that he was thinking in an in depth manner. His eyes shifted to the side as if he was literally looking for something that we could do. It was cute.
