Chapter 7

February- Junior

[Liam’s POV]

“All done Mr. Payne,” Dr. Marshall said as I twisted my wrist around in fascination. After being in that cast for so long, it was a fascinating feeling to have a full range of flexibility again.

“Thank you so much,” I said as I shook his hand.

“It was no problem actually. You are a very good patient Liam. And, might I add, you are very lucky to have such a good friend who accompanied you to this,” he said as he looked over at Niall who was quietly prodding with the stomach sculpture he was seated next to.

I chuckled before saying, “Yeah he’s something.”

“Well, you should be fine with your wrist and if anything is a problem, don’t hesitate to ask. Don’t let him go, by the way,” Dr. Marshall said as he handed me the slip he signed off for Coach Cowell letting him know I could start training within the next month.

“Excuse me?” I spluttered out.

“You heard me Mr. Payne,” he said with a wink. “It was nice to meet you Niall!” He added with a warm smile.

“You as well Dr. Marshall,” Niall said as he whipped his hands away from the figure. He looked like a child that had just got caught taking food out of the cookie jar, and it was adorable.

With that Dr. Marshall left the room and it was just Niall and I. He bounced towards me as I slipped on my jacket. He wedged himself between my legs and poked my nose as he had a giddy smile on his face.

“Yes silly?” I smirked as I poked his nose back.

“Can we go now?” He whined as he bounced on his feet.

“Well, I mean I’m not sure if I’m feeling up to it,” I said as I looked around the room lazily.

“What?” I looked at Niall, and he looked so broken that I couldn’t help but peck his nose with a grin.

“I’m just teasing love. We can go now.”

“Well that was easy.” He smiled one of his grins and I couldn’t help but break out one of my own. I loved it when he smiled, it just rested my nerves about any doubts I have about anything.

Niall grabbed my hand and did the little motion that he had now gotten accustomed to doing. Honestly, I still hadn’t looked up what he was doing, and he refused to tell me. It was starting to really intrigue me, but he was keen on the idea of making me look it up.

“I find this amusing that you still can’t figure out what it means,” Niall said as I hopped off the table.

“Oh hush. You could always tell me,” I said suggestively as I intertwined our pinkies together.

“Or I could always leave ya hanging.” He let go of my pinky and merrily skipped his way out of the room. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at his child like ways. When I left the room, he was at the front of doctor’s office getting a lollipop from the nurse whose name happened to be Barbra.

“You are just a joy Niall,” she said as Niall began to unwrap his lollipop with ravenous eyes. She saw me and held out the basket of candy. “Would the brave patient like one as well?”

I smiled and shook my head. “I’m fine thank you.”

“Well you boys have a nice day!” She called out as I held the door for Niall.

“You as well Miss Barbra,” I said with a smile.

I walked out and saw Niall waiting for me by the car. He was pulling at the handle, waiting for to open miraculously instead of just waiting for me to open the car door.
